Got a nice surprise in the mail today from Ford Motor Company. I’ve been paying a little extra each month on the Ranger but hadn’t really thought about it that closely. Set up automatic payments and let it roll. Ended up paying it off 8 months early. It was a zero percent loan so I didn’t really save any money but it’s still a nice Christmas present! Downside is I’ve decided I REALLY like the Explorer ST. It would be a nice “family trickster” to replace mama’s car.

Congratulations - that Explorer ST would go nicely with the other Fords in the stable.

If you had gap insurance, make sure to cancel it. I got a surprise $500 check after paying off Shelly early and cancelling gap

Well, that's a relief! From the title, "Pink Slip," I thought somebody had lost his job...

By the way, we had a 2014 Explorer Limited with the naturally aspirated six. Loved that thing and would probably have kept on buying Explorers if Ford had not brought back the Ranger...

GAP & extended warranty service at that.

After I traded in my Ranger I got $2,000 back between the two.

FWIW, The term "Pink Slip" has been around for a long time but in my 50+ years of working and driving I have never seen a registration certificate, title or lay-off paperwork that has been pink.

When you wrote that I had the same thought (with half the experience, however,) and I looked it up. I'll bet you can guess which state this slang term originates from.

California.

a paid off Ranger is the best Ranger :like:
That depends, when I bought mine in 21 I got .9% financing from Ford. I am getting 3.5% interest on my savings. Didn't make sense to pay cash.
