Don't Post Often...But I Added a Mishimoto Borne Off-Road Snorkel to my 2021 Tremor

Was kind of a pain in the ass, and I should have washed my truck before I got started....

But over all I am pretty happy with it.
See if it was really worth it in the long run.

Question, and I am NOT being a smartass... but I'm not some hard core off roader so I don't know. What is the purpose of snorkels? I mean would you really take your truck through water so deep that the original air intake isn't sufficient?

Gets fresh air from high up, above the smog layer so engine gets "clean fresh air".
Wouldn't worry about ANY deep water....alternator will give out long before engine sucks any water up.
Also makes your Ranger easier to find in a crowded parking lot....

No I would not take a North American Ranger into water past hub height with or without the snorkel due to the placement of the alternator.

I actually got this for getting "cleaner" air when traveling on dry and dusty roads. I live in Utah and it gets super dry and dusty. After talking with a few buddies and going through what feels like a dozen air filters I am hoping this can help.... We will see about that....Either way I think it looks cool... But that is just me.

So really this isn't for water fording, it is more for getting air that is above the kicked up dust and what not.

I have considered it but decided I would be able to handle the likely near daily “you take that thing in deep water”. And I don’t have much dust here in northeast. Looks great though!

And I kid you not, less than 24 hours of having it installed "Do you have to go into alot of water?"...... -.-;

On the plus side if the effects are minimal, at least the sound of it pulling in air sounds really cool.

i think it looks good. How does it compare to the arb safari ?
wouldnt mind having one but im not in the mood to spend more on the 5g for a while lol. wet alternator - nah give it hell. ive had mine wet a few times. its the dang mud and leaves that kill it . my 4g was awesome at water fording until it suddenly got too deep too fast. dried her out still runs like a top. thought id never get that damn catfish out of the rear seat area. dont have the opening half doors so i had to make him use the passenger door.

I cant really comment on the Safari, I just knew I didnt want to cut a hole in the fender for a snorkel.
This one feels solid and I like the design.
The nice thing with this is I can reverse it pretty easy with the cost of a bottom half of an airbox.

i was excited for the arb safari until i found out it required cutting the body and i quickly moved on away from the idea. i feel like a snorkel would hurt the resale value and speed significantly so being able to remove easily is awesome.

and look where it sits LOL at that point you are in over your head anyway?
and your radio is toast along with the whole electrical system within the year
