I've joined the party also my 2020 Ranger became a victim of this increasing problem. I have changed out all the screws with security screws in hopes of at least slowing down the thieving criminals. This is a national problem. My insurance is balking at the replacement cost. I live LA county and have written the LA Times explaining the problem. The fact the thieves can open the tailgate without tripping the alarm indicates to me this is a factory flaw and should be addressed by Ford to this issue

Man times are ridiculous. California is haven for petty crime now and everything is up for grabs.

Sad to hear...wouldn't matter if they caught the perp in action...they'd be out faster than you can pay for your a license plate at DMV...

Damn. Sorry to hear you are dealing with this. But, honestly - that’s what insurance is for. I’d look for different coverage.
Yep
Once it y'all settled I will change insurance coverage

Strange how they got by the alarm...must've been a diamond thief...once the tailgate is open, it only takes a couple of screws and disconnecting the harness...this taillamp must be the easiest take away part on the truck...

Did they damage the tailgate lock to gain access? Unfortunately it’s easy to defeat the tailgate lock. Check closely to see if the lock cylinder has been punched.

no damage to the truck these guy we're kind in that aspect, lock still works alarm still works, there are only 2 screws that hold the taillight in you could take them out with really any kind of pliers needle nose channel locks so easy these screws are completely exposed

Sorry to hear that but at least you have insurance to cover it. Wondering how they opened the tailgate without damaging, if the truck was locked.
And when will we stop blaming the manufacturers for criminal behavior?
Let's blame the criminals, politicians and legal for not holding them responsible.
I want my vehicle easy to fix. I shouldn't have to go to a dealer and drop a couple thousand to replace a tailight. Bad enough that the part is expensive but if it's difficult to disassemble, the the labor costs are high also. Unfortunately, easy to disassemble an expensive part makes it easy for theives.
Let's fix the source of the problem and hold the thieves responsible.
Again, sorry you have to deal with this and not blaming you at all.

This sucks!! Sorry man. Anyone remember when Cadillac bumpers were getting stolen? Anyone who had a Caddy had to get their bumper welded on. Back in the 80s the bumpers were $1500 dollars. So kids would steal them and sell. them to a body shop for 500.

Dont forget the people that buy these items from the scumbags, in my way of thinking that is just as criminal. Catalytic converters, copper? Get the crooks and the buyers.

My Dad had wheels stolen off his truck back in the day.
What did he replace them with....stolen wheels.
He perpetuates the problem himself while saying the crooks should be hung and shot.

This is not Fords fault.
Where would it stop? Do we need an alarm system tied to the lug nuts? another electrically bonded to the cat? Touch my truck and it automatically calls 911?
Imagine the price point jump that I have to pay for someone else being a douche.

Lets push your politicians to think less of what pads their pockets and more on what protects what's in ours. Put these dipsticks in jail and leave them there for awhile.

A friend of mine saw how this sort of thing happens first hand. Had a car come to his shop, was a theft and recovery. The car had the front clip stolen, otherwise no damage. customer wanted it fixed so a frt clip from an area salvage yard was ordered. Parts showed up the next day. He felt luckey as the replacement frt end was the same color as the car being repaired. All went well till he noticed a scratch on the R/F fender. That matched the scratch on the R/F door. Woops. Cops were called. Don't know what happened after that. Car got hauled away without repair, never to return.
