I just discovered my rear defrost lines are damaged on the passenger side. This is the spot where the dealer taped the 30 day tag on when I bought out my lease. I haven't used the defroster since April so I didn't notice till now.

Can defrost lines be repaired or will the entire window need replaced? Just going to live with it if the window needs replaced as I'm out of B2B warranty

Just had my back window replaced last week. Mine looked the same way. Only the bottom half of my window would defrost. Thank god I got it covered under warranty just before it went out. I bought mine new and to my knowledge there wasn't anything taped to mine.

Looks like the exact same spot. Maybe a manufacturing defect? What year is yours? Mines a 2020

Mine is a 2021. I've seen on here it has happened to some other people.

I knocked my tab off cleaning the windows. Got a kit off Amazon to glue the tab on. After gluing the tab on I noticed I lost contact to a couple of the grid lines. Got another kit with the paint for the grid lines.
Still need to do that.
That looks like a lot of painting on yours. Wonder if copper tape and a little paint would work. ?

id take it to the dealer first and use your angry voice and see if they'll cover it.
If not, copper painty kit would be my next option

Have you considered parking it, backed in of course, near the local baseball diamond or driving range? maybe you will get lucky and an errant slice could take care of everything....

Same issue, but on drivers side. I blame the use environmental friendly paints. The 79 T bird had cracked rear glass that was held in place due to the defrost lines (slight fish story).

Those damn lines should be inside the glass so we don't damage them with our OCD cleaning and using all the Tictok hacks on how to clean glass with battery acid and a usb cable wrapped in tin foil powered by a 9volt battery all hot glued inside a toilet paper roll...

I repaired many rear defrosters over the years. Just go to your local auto supply and buy a repair kit. I used to tape around the area that needed repair to make it look better. Even soldered a few connectors back on, had to be careful on those tho. Only one I couldn't fix was when the old guy that worked in the car wash came out to me and asked if I had any ideas about how to get all the dirt off the rear window. He was cleaning a brand new car and was in the process of cleaning the rear window with a razor blade. This one was beyond repair, it got replaced.

Summoning an old thread - my passenger side defrost is about as bad as some of the pictures here AND the connector is detached and dangling on the passenger side. So no contact at all. My rear defrost is damn near worthless now.

is it even repairable at this juncture? I’m way out of warranty. So would it be a full rear window replacement?

I would just resolder it but you may have luck with a permatex repair kit
