Really, that is what I call poor engineering.
Few have reported having this issue. My truck doesn't have it. I wouldn't call it poor engineering, but it may be an assembly line HVAC installation issue when your truck was built.

Have you followed the SSM procedure I posted in post #2 showing how to inspect the A/C lines to the HVAC box? Did you see any condensation dripping from those lines?

Here is a video for this:
Now to confirm drip location, he points out (access) if you can call it that
But one should be able to borescope and or use a mirror this location to confirm

This is where he is referencing in the video, the drain hole in the center (hump)

Lines or Drain

Where he talks about adding a tube/ elbow to the end of the exit drain (The pic) I posted above is what he is talking about.
My thought is that if the drain itself is partially clogged, this will slow the drain down just enough for this to happen.
Now an extension is a great idea but does not address the root cause, but it may at the least prevent most of the condensate from flowing back into the cab, however if clogged enough you will still have the condensate (overflowing pan) issue in turns - dumping onto the floorboards.

Another thought is to add some sealant around the grommet to help seal the tube from backflowing. The issue here is access
