GMRS repeater

So I'm not sure if anyone has seen this before or not and I know a certain someone @OFC Ranger has been looking into the idea of something like this for their own vehicle so someone could bounce off of it. I'm curious what some of your guys's thoughts are for this particular unit and what it even be useful in any way?

Neat little package and setup. Very useful.

However, that is dependent on knowing what a repeater is and the limitations of RF.

As far as mobile vehicle use, I don’t see much more gains that using a “normal” GMRS radio.

If you’re going to park your truck on a hill, pull out the side by sides and use the truck as a stationary repeater for the GMRS radios in the side by sides, OK, there could be some large gains in that setup. If you’re going to go through the trouble of finding handheld GMRS radios with repeater capability, that too would be some large gains with the truck stationary, parked on a hill.

I have dual band HAM radios, the one I use in the RV has a repeater function, receives on one band and Xmits on another. Comes in handy in the field as a base station to keep several hand held radio's in touch at longer ranges than the smaller antennas can manage. I do use a hi-gain dual band antenna on a 30' telescoping pole on the RV ladder to get the signal out there. There are restrictions for repeaters, self identity, antenna height, power, and so forth. I have only used mine for off road rallies where I manned a check point.
