I have had three incidents now since purchasing my new to me 2019 Ranger Lariat. It has been at the dealership three times since March 2023 with a series of cascade alarms and displays during each incident: powertrain failure, hill assist malfunction, ABS malfunction, pre-collision warning, etc. during same incidents. All incidents seem to trigger around hard acceleration, or during cruise control at speed and accelerating to pass. The dealer has been great but unable to figure out the issue. Each time they put me in leaser and have vehicle for weeks. We think it may be a loose connector or the like but which one would cause all these alarms each time? Could it also be a sensor, which one? I’m afraid the dealer has given up. Ford has not been all that knowledgable or helpful either. You would think they would know their product. Any ideas?

If you can get the list of codes, it would be helpful, first thought is a Throttle Body or Accelerator Pedal issue as it’s only during hard acceleration, something is dropping out and cascading the codes.

Just curious if you went to Sport Mode - would it do the same, Downshift strategy is tighter.
The ranger has a Data Bus for communication between the modules - and the ABS system is vital for numerous systems to operate correctly, the ABS fault will trigger Hill Start and Collision Avoidance, so somewhere in the system at a hard transmission downshift request , communication is lost to the ABS , is my initial thoughts on this.
Now this is where reading all the actual codes and finding the common (communication loss) is the key here.

Now prior owner may have had a tune, so it may be a good idea to reset transmission adaptive learning, this may or may not cure the issue. I am just noting, downshift issues

Interesting, I have passed on to the dealer. I’ll double back.

This same thing happened to my Explorer. List of codes and warning bells, dealer was at wits end, we opened a case with Ford it was so bad. A good technician started looking at the communication module diagrams and determined the fault was on CAM BUS 2. That gave him a path forward. He traced the problem to a CamBus 2 (not sure if that is the right name) ground wire that was loose in the passenger's footwell. It was a manufacturer error. Dealer tightened it and haven't had an issue since. Just a suggestion to look at the communication bus(s) and check the associated grounds for loose connections.

Back in the early 90's I was tuning my 93 Miata with supercharger. The after market ECU was quite susceptible to varying ground voltages. I ended up routing them all to the same point on the engine block to cure the problem... What was the problem? Engine would start going rich when I turned on the headlights until the car would finally stall. Same thing with left blinker. Turning on the AC did it too... There were more but it's been 30 years and the details elude me, but the pain is still there! Drove me nuts trying to figure it out.

Ok, gang. Dealer reached out today and told me its resolved. The issue was a loose grounding wire to the chassis causing the problems and sporadic alarms. They had gone through all the grounds, then to harnesses, wear spots, pinch points, nothing. After all that they went back and rechecked all the grounds again and found it. After four weeks. I do want to say how helpful this forum has been. I shared all of your comments with the dealer along the way and they checked each one. They were as frustrated as me and told me to keep sending your comments their way. I read all of your posts. Thank you. I hope to pick it up tomorrow and will share any additional details. This had been going on since April! Corwin Ford Republic Missouri has been excellent the whole way, even taking care of hail damage while in their care back in May.

They will most likely, note it in the comments on repair order - but if you could post the ground point (#) Such as G202 as an example.

Update, dealer found three corroded and loose grounds #121, 122, and 123 which were causing multiple errors and alarms intermittently. They had it four weeks tracking them down. Will see what happens. Thanks all for the input.

Grounds 121, 122, 123 all loose or corroded and repaired. Also multiple U codes caused displays and required a DSP update whatever that is.
