Claudia Jennings, the later queen of “B” movies, stood beside a new 1970 Ford Mercury Capri, gifted to her by Playboy Magazine as their Playmate of the Year. The German imported Mercury Capri brought Ford back on the front page of Playboy Magazine, with the iconic car being showcased in the publication. From 1964 to 1975, the 'Playmate of the Year' was gifted a car by the magazine, with all the vehicles painted in the signature color Playboy Pink.

if memory serves me right Ford's tagline for the Capri was "the sexy European" , surprised I didn't buy one as admittedly I'm a sucker for catchy marketing slogans but I was into Saabs, marketed as "the most intelligent cars"

I never heard of her and don't remember seeing the advertisement. I looked her up. She died in car crash in 1979. I wonder Capri was involved. Probably not, it would have been nine years old at the time of the crash.

Not a Capri, probably a Pinto...rear-ended and the gas tank exploded! Full disclaimer, I had 2 Pinto's, a '71 Runabout (1st year) and a 77 wagon)

This brings back memories. A high school friend of mine had a dad who owned a gas station/wide spot in the road in South Texas. The station building was one of those big windowed steel jobs that bolted together and it even had an original 1920s Coke machine. The dad had a number of cars in the yard including a yellow Capri with a blown engine. One day my friend hauled in another yellow Capri that had had been rolled (I never saw one in any other color) and we swapped engines to make a running beater. We were doing doughnuts in the sawgrass behind the station and hit a telephone pole that he had forgotten was laying hidden in the middle. I think that adventure, which took maybe 4 hours start to finish, may be the shortest-lived engine swap in history.
