See if you had dampers all around this would've never happened. You'd have sprung back right side up. ?

In all seriousness I wish you a speedy recovery! My friend has a couple old Wheel Horse tractors and they are built like a tank! I truly believe we all have a guardian angel looking over us and luckily yours with with you that day. Godspeed and hopefully the worst will be soon behind you. ?

I have been looking online too! I think I'm going to relegate the Wheelhorse to snow plow in the winter, and johnny bucket in the summer. I have had both attachments for 15 years. I'll just remove the mowing deck. Trying to decide between zero radius and standard 46" tractor. I have plenty of time to make a decision.
You see, there is some good coming out of your accident... Happy shopping!

Pain is temporary, broken bones heal, and chicks dig scars.

That was my mantra after my motorcycle accident, Oct 18th, 1987.....that, and "Shit Happens".

Wow, I step away to take a nap, leaving my PC on, and look what happens!

I think she was simply having fun. She loves me dearly, and she is taking wonderful care of me. It's going to be a long month, but we'll get though it. Thank you guys for your kindnesses and humor. We have had 4 difficult tragedies in the last 2 months, and the distraction of this group and my local friends have made dealing with reality so much easier.

May God bless you, and keep you safe.
Tony & Jennifer (who both had a good laugh)
Ya’ll sound like a wonderful couple! So sorry about your accident.

I myself can't do pain meds. They make me nauseated and cramp my digestion system something terrible. I've had quite a few surgeries in the last few years and when discharging me, the nurse gives me the opiate based prescription. I tell her I don't want. She's like your going to be in pain. Also they don't deaden the pain, just make me sick.
Same here.

I vote get a lawn guy... i know the tractor is fun. however, it is actually cheaper for me to pay someone to do my mowing than it is for me to maintain and feed my mower and weed eater, get grass seeds etc. Im sure it is not apples to apples as my yard is smaller, less than half acre total and the pros with the fancy mowers have it squared away in no time. but could not hurt to get a few estimates.

I have never considered hiring a lawn service. I guess I need to put pen to paper and run a cost analysis.

Thanks. I've got a month or so before I'll ba able to do anything anyway!
add in a little margin of never having to face or wonder about going over the edge again cost to the figures. Im still surprised you were not hurt worse. looking at the pictures i have a hunch the peeled skin was from the tractor hood. sorta like a cheese slicer. Gosh. crazy how fast things go from normal to emergency.

Well, I've been banned ( by she who must be obeyed ) from cutting that close to the ledge any longer. Time to breakout the Stihl weed eater.

My doctor was just as surprised as you that I wasn't hurt far worse. What the pictures don't show about the peeled skin is that it came off at the end of a 10" scratch that started about 5" from the tip of my elbow, and slowly grazed my arm until seriously cutting into meat 1" from my wrist. The hood popped open on impact precisely when I was ejected, with my arm flying loose towards the opening hood. We came to the same conclusion that you have.

The severe hemotoma on the inside of my left knee that also has a severe cut came from my knee impacting the center console. The console stands about 10"-12" tall and you straddle it when seated, legs stretched out to reach the clutch and brake pedals on both sides. Shifter and low speed range controls are located on the console.

The two very severe hemtomas on the back of my legs have revealed further evidence as they have blossomed. There is a clear 25-30 degree downward angle of damage from my right leg across to my left leg. Nice straight line, with severe bruising both above and below the line. It just so happens that the seat back top has a major bend in it that lines up perfectly with the back of my legs.

The seat is hinged on the front and pivots up resting against the steering wheel to allow you to fill the gas tank. When the tractor impacted the ground, the seat back flew up and pinned my legs just below my butt between it and the steering wheel while I was flying out of the seat.

The seat is industrial and very strong. It will be difficult to bend back into shape. It bent when it hit both femur bones right at my pelvis. The right femur got the brunt of it, but the left femur bent the seat steel shell inward. The seat was in the up position against my legs when the seat underside impacted the ground forcing the back of the seat into my upper thighs. I was already on the way out on the left side when the pinch occurred. That's where "the angle off shame" fits in.

It has been a very rough 3 months. A great deal of heartache. I've lost a sister, and a grandchild, and another grandchild broke his arm above the elbow requiring serious surgery. Then I fall off the terrace 12 hours after arriving home from my sister's memorial service.

But my faith is strong.
"The Lord gave.
And the Lord taketh away.
Blessed be the name of the Lord."

I have read that passage in Job countless times, never understanding how Job could mutter those words in the face of extreme adversity.

I understand now.

We will be OK.

Tony from the forum mowed too close to his wall ,
Tony from the forum, he had a bad fall,
All of us members , his family and friends ,
Wondered if he'd get back on his Wheelhorse again ?
The wounds will soon heal and may not even show ,
But he's banned from the ledge , Wifey said "NO!"
And this may sound mean , please dont take the wrong way,
but our biggest concern , is the tractor OK ???

Speedy recovery sir !

Things are looking better, had lots of swelling in my left leg, and it was painful, called Doc, who checked my DNA weaknesses, and at the top of the list was a Thrombosis - 5x greater than normal! So he had me head over STAT to the local radiology lab for a leg Ultra Sound looking for blockages. All came back in the clear! So 1 baby aspirin once a week, and compression socks until I heal.

NotBudule, the cute radiologist hails from Philippi, WV!

We rec'd a great laugh from your poem. Dear wife is saving it!

I think I am going to get a load or two of topsoil to level the yard with the wall, and cover that stump. But not before I heal.

It seems that God looks after old fools after all! Ever Onward.
Glad you are okay, and get to buy some new lawn equipment. Consider having the stump ground out before you add top soil, it will reduce the potential hump and potential for the stump to resurface as the new soil settles. I've removed 39 trees and stumps from my property. Stump grinders are available at most rental places at relatively low cost, or tree companies often offer the service (not so cheap). It definitely takes some muscle/effort to do the job, so you will want to wait until you are fully healed, but it's not that bad, the machine does most of the work.

After having that ultra-sound a few days ago, my hemotoma on the inside left knee appears to have become infected. Off to the Doc this AM for antibiotic shots in the @ss. Go for 2 more rounds in the next two days. 6 total.

First one didn't hurt. The second one hurt... a lot! So much fun. Both legs now bruised all the way down to the toes. Doc mentioned that I must be anemic! That I lost a great deal of blood internally.

I am beginning to feel slightly better. But I can no longer use the ice to remove swelling until I get the all clear on the infection. "It'll feel better when it quits hurtin!" :)
