My vehicle reg renewal is coming up.

I just noticed in my state that RRAPTOR is available.

Do I have the perceived audacity to lock it down before someone takes it and drive with it on my current truck until the actual Raptor gets here?

@Glocker @Msfitoy
you better pounce on it. I wanted BBQ for the hearse and a week later it was taken

Don't do it. Its bad karma. Wait until the truck is in the driveway.

Tomorrow has the potential to be a big day for all of us with orders in the system.

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself, but the pucker factor has raised a little bit as the clock ticks.

To imagine some of us could be in possession this year and not the expected wait till next year is....

No, but not really unexpected. Trying to squeeze an extra $5,000 by private sale vs trade-in isn't really a game changer if it fails.

I'm actually still on the fence about stripping it down to just suspension and wheels for trade in and converting the rest over. It just would not be cost effective to trade in the whole package and rebuild certain things at current product prices. The difference in price between some products now and 3 years ago is significant.

Really the deciding factor will be how lazy I feel.

How many things would fit the 2024?
And how many things would you move over, now that you've had them on this truck?

I'm kicking around some hard boxes for added storage on top of the diamond back cover and a 'fridge/freezer for long trips/weekend jaunts.
Just trying to decide if the cost is worth it.

Generally speaking across the board everything I have is universal or so close to universal that it will require very very small modifications to work.

The things that are not universal are suspension parts or powertrain parts and some of the obvious exterior parts like aftermarket grills for example.

My rack and thus everything attached to it can transfer right over since the rack itself is universally adjustable for width.

The dealership is more or less offering me $15,000 more than I owe on the truck and I can take that on credit or in cash or some combination.

I could put $10,000 toward any other down payment I'm doing and take five grand to replace parts which is a viable option and would be the less time consuming for me at the exchange of giving up a little value.

Really since the Raptor is an all-in-one package the only thing I would rebuy is an RCI bed rack some aux lights ARB awning with tent attachment. Actually going this path would present me the opportunity to go ahead and buy the ARB black aluminum housed awning instead of the gray PVC bag when I have now. Then I need to read by eight Plano storage boxes to remake my pod system and some raw material to rebuild out the rack. This will probably leave me $2,000 additional for whatever I wanted.

This go around I'm still going to have a custom over the cab rack but all my doodads are going to be a bit scaled back like no crazy interior mods and so forth.

To give you an example of pricing difference from then and now the RCI 18 in tall rack cost me $750 almost 3 years ago that same rack now cost $1,000. Not a super big difference as an individual part but I really need to sit down and look at what I intend to do with this truck because all those little small amounts add up to a big loss if I go that route.
