The words Ford and promised should never be taken seriously. It's almost as bad as hearing "I'm from the government and here to help". :surprised:

Last year I worked at a Ford dealership an every Lighting was sold before it hit the lot. I was at a different dealership last week an they had 3 sitting on the lot. I didn't bother looking at the price or if there was a mark up gimmick on them. Between the huge price increase an the reports of the real world range being lame I can see them sitting a while longer.

I really don't understand this massive push to electric vehicles we don't have the charging ability to support. I think plug in hybrids make more sense until the charging networks are available an I'd prefer a new technology for batteries that don't rely on the materials they use now.

I thought these things were $70,000 ?
The base model Ford F-150 Lightning Pro started out at $40K which now jumped to $60K. The Lariat F-150 Lightning in Extended Range was $70k and is now $90K+. :curse:

Fords F-150 Lightening will be as big a failure for Ford as was the Ford Edsel. It’s just too expensive, too low a driving range especially when towing, too low a driving range in cold weather when not towing (about half range), too heavy, too difficult and too long to recharge. The Edsel cost Ford a loss of $350 million in 1960, adjusted for inflation, that is $3.5 Billion today. Fords EV division has already has lost about $3 Billion for Ford so far. It’s unsustainable. Few people are willing to spend close to $100 k on a truck that can only tow their camper only about 100 miles at best, if its not cold. Where do you recharge in the middle of a forest or desert when camping? This EV truck is a complete loser.

Well, it isn't just Ford: Chevy-silverado-ev-wont-start-at-40k-after-all

"The biggest change to the pricing structure is the base model has jumped up to the $50,000 range. "Customers will have the ability to content the truck across various price ranges, with MSRPs starting from $50,000, $60,000, $70,000, $80,000 and more," reads Chevrolet's press release."

Had a ham radio event last weekend. One of the members brothers drove a tesla from Wisconsin. I think they had to stop every 4 hours to charge it. And a full charge took an hour. Then they had to find places to charge it.
Electric cars sound awesome.

I know it's a Chevy but just a idea of the problems of rushing this EV tech, along with the inherent problems like time to charge, any vehicles using the limited stations ahead of you, how does the winter weather cold and summer heat effect battery life and even winter snow road conditions when the vehicle is least efficient.
I want to fuel up in 5 minutes and not add any time on a road trip playing games looking for charging stations. Maybe in 10 years it will be better but for now it's not ready or prime time IMO.

EV's are hard on roads.
"Some 2022 models of the Ford Lightning and Rivian R1T battery-electric trucks tip the scales at between 6,500 and 6,700 pounds. The GMC Hummer EV truck checks in at an astonishing 9,063 pounds."

There are many old bridges, especially in rural areas that are posted for 3 ton gross weight, not per axle weight. Could be a bummer for your Hummer if you live where you need to cross such a bridge to leave or get home.
As the article states, A roadway or bridge designed for forty or more tons will wear out more quickly with constant 5,000+ lb traffic.

And I bet very few EV owners consider, or are cautioned by dealers to consider the increased weight of their cars at such times, or whether the concrete in Their garages and driveways will be adversely affected by the weight.
