With apologies to @subquark and the world famous "Soupie", I did some manly-man-truck-stuff and went to the dump to remove previous homeowners junk from my garage. $10 well spent. ?

That is indeed manly-man and macho! =D

And dragging someone else's crap to the dump is stepping up to the plate and showing the world how it's done! =)

Plus bonus points for the ratchet strap!

Gotta make sure my load is secured.
It's a trucker thing...can't break the habit.
Drive with my hand on the shifter too, though I don't know why.

Local business had a kayak sale going on. Finally decided on an Old Town Vapor 10XT. It was difficult deciding between a 10' and 12' but I don't plan on paddling all the time. Birthday gift to myself.
I might need to look into a bed rack flush to the cab if I plan on using it often...?

My neighbor has a tow hitch extender thingy she uses on her Ridgeline to support their kayaks.
Would something like that work?

Possibly! This wasn't difficult for me but I feel like I'd want that bed space for wet gear after I'm done paddling and keeping the kayak on a bed rack will keep things tidy/accessible. I've seen what you're talking about, though! I believe in MA it's 4ft for overhanging... not sure if that counts towards tailgates being down or up.
