You might have a point. I couldn't say as I've never been 67 before. At 67 years old not so much.. heck Walmart greeters are a thing of the past..
Word! What the hell is going on with this thread?! Some of you guys need to chill.
Dude lost a job in tech. Could he go get a job at Lowe's? Yea. Does it fit his skill set and income requirements? I'm thinking not. Can he relocate? He said "no."
Damn people. Have some compassion.
D Fresh, I absolutely appreciate the comment and opportunity. If I were in Colorado, I would take you on that offer. Unfortunately I am not in a situation to relocate out of state. I don't need to sit here and explain my situation to someone that's a complete stranger online. But for you and the other commenter, had I known this process would had take months long, obviously I would had taken the first hourly job I could take. But when I have my past 10 years of professional experience at a certain salary level, and on networking calls with recruiters and interviews every week for possible jobs betting on myself, I'd expect one of them to work out, which hasn't unfortunately. And those interview processes in my industry are normal to last a month long, so it's an ongoing stop and start process as new ones come along. It's not like I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs not doing anything. You might have a point. I couldn't say as I've never been 67 before.
But I'm betting that searching for a job at that age pride plays a big role. And even necessity. Do you need a job? Or are you looking for something in particular? At that age I'd guess the job seeker to be very discerning.
In my adult life I've never been without a job for more than a week. That includes job searching deep in the heart of the recession. I've never understood the "I've been job searching for months and can't find anything" comments. I suspect those folks either don't really want or don't really need a job.
Hell, watch this.
OP, I can get you a job oppurtunity in Colorado. No experience needed. Hard work but 70k/year with no requirements other than a clean MVR. PM me if interested.
Betcha I never hear from him.
Why can't you relocate? I am in tech as well. have done the unemployed thing more than once due to downturn. I did not want to relocate but thankfully I had savings enuf that supplemented unemployment so could keep my stuff until I found a job where I didn't have to move but it was touch and go there for a bit.Really appreciate that! I don't think I can do a full-time relocation, but more than willing to travel for work when needed. My work is in QA (Quality Assurance) - testing web/mobile products/applications.

You've been a part of this industry with long interview processes and whatnot for 10 years. Yet you didn't realize it would take you months to find a job?D Fresh, I absolutely appreciate the comment and opportunity. If I were in Colorado, I would take you on that offer. This. A thousand times this! Why can't you relocate? I am in tech as well. have done the unemployed thing more than once due to downturn. COSTCO starts at 25 an hour last I heard. don't be afraid to change careers (it's never too late to learn something new). There are plenty of jobs out there that will pay enough to keep your head above water. altho you are in kommiefornia so that is a negative.
Um... He was asking for advise for someone in a similar lease situation. He wasn't just coming her to lament his unemployment situation.Wouldn't a smart person go get a job at Lowes AND continue to search for that tech job?
I'm not trying to be a dick here. But sometimes a man's got to do what a man's got to do. If it's bad enough that we're asking for financial advice on a truck forum I'd say it's pretty dire and we're probably at, "find a job now" stage.
He literally came here to ask if he could get a car loan with no income. A loan he'll likely default on. Leaving the rest of society to pick up the pieces. Kinda like the student loan dude is most definitely not paying for either.Um... He was asking for advise for someone in a similar lease situation. He wasn't just coming her to lament his unemployment situation.
But I understand that some will suggest 'pulling ones self up by their own bootstrapes'
