Smoked a 15 pound turkey today on the 26 inch Weber. One of those 50 cents a pound Thanksgiving special that we put in the freezer. Used crabapple for a nice light smoke and cooked the potatoes and stuffing on the grill with it. Weber grills are the best.

It was good. just a light crabapple smoke flavor, not brined and fully smoked. The only way to cook those 50 cents a pound thanksgiving frozen specials that stores use to attract customers. We got lucky it was warm enough to grill today.

Few days old, but did some pea soup.

I had a Swedish girlfriend in college and her family would have this every Thursday - pea soup with bacon and mustard.

Is it a similar tradition in Finland?

In deed it is.

The custom comes from catholic Friday fasting. Pea soup with bacon on Thursday was readily available and high protein & energy food carrying you over the next days fasting. The fasting got removed after one guy nailed some thesis to church door but the habit stuck.

Mustard & onion are there to make that stuff edible. Usually the dessert for this is pancakes, whipped cream & jam.

btw: You can thicken it by crumbling knäkkebröd into it

Well it's fresh asparagus season and My pea stinks. Asparagus, tuna steak, parsley potatoes along with some sautéed portabellas

That tuna steak look great Ed - one of my favourites!

My favorite is scallops but I won't pay the price they are asking lately. Bought the tuna steaks from Costco a couple months back and even with them being frozen they cook up and taste like fresh on the grill.
