Thanks for having me on the forum folks. Hope to learn from it in the future.
I have a 2021 with 22k miles on it. I have an extensive Toyota pickup background as that’s all I’ve ever owned. Most of them got me several hundred thousand miles, but with the recent economy situation and the price of Toyotas these days I bit the bullet and bought a ranger.

All of my driving is off-road in the mountains where I live, except for the occasional trip into town or a road trip. So far the Ranger doesn’t seem to be holding up well to the abuse I put my vehicles through but I hope that I’m wrong and it’s just coincidental.

So far these are the problems I have:
Radio and touch screen have quit working completely.
Interior lights will no longer cut off by using the switch, I have to disconnect my battery of the evening.
I have a bad wheel bearing starting to roar.
The truck was stuck in 3rd gear for several hours one day while I was on a hunting trip. Finally it came out.
Now there is a loud electronic “whirring” noise somewhere under the truck while at a constant low speed.

All these problems are very concerning to me considering I have a $35k truck with low miles. I have an appointment with the closest Ford dealer in 5 weeks, they are all booked up I reckon.

Are these trucks made for urbanized city dwellers and hairless men? Or can they take a beating? I’m starting to have my doubts. Hope yaw have a good sense of humor.

hmm... Seems like your issues are out of the ordinary. I have not heard such things. Also, these trucks have been beat up around the globe for a decade or more. They just starting selling them in USA in 2019..

So, are they for soft hairless men? maybe.. but Mine (I have two) take a beating and keep ticking.

Glad you got my sense of humor.

So far, I absolutely love the truck. The body of these trucks is pretty substantial and the suspension is great from the factory. Not a fan of the electronics but then again, I’ve been driving 5 speed beaters with manual locks and windows since I started driving. I’m not very concerned about the electrical issues, I’d say it’s more than likely a couple fuses. But the whirring noise sounds almost like a torque converter. Heard of any issues with them? I don’t know anyone else locally with a ranger to ask.

Ditto, 22,000 miles, including banging around in death Valley, Moab, Anza Borrego, etc...

I guess the statistics allow for deviation from good vehicles, but hope your warranty will help you resolves those items!

You were able to trick those dogs into riding in the back of a Taco ? Dog whisperer or steak treats? Either way , they look MUCH more happier in a Ranger ( that one guy has on a vest and LOOKS like a Ranger ) do it for the Doggo's man , your comfort and wallet are a distant second , you may break down and have to walk a lot more than you are used to though...

Hey that’s just my style. My wife always says to me “you are getting old and broke down and you complain about your knees all the time, but you sure are good looking”

I reckon that’s all that matters ain’t it?

Ford needs to hire you to do extensive off road testing as I do believe you are right, the vast majority is tested for urban city dwellers.

Excellent comparison, look how lethargic and uninterested they look in the Toyota versus wide eyed and standing at attention in the Ranger , you may have to get out and PUSH the Ranger with the good boys in the back , still , totally worth it , to the dogs I mean , gonna suck for you though ...

that was the least offensive way I could reference a group of feminine men that live in the concrete hell most people call home. The same ones I read about measuring which side of their bumper is higher than the other and all that stupid crap.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I had a 4Runner before this and although the ranger is better in almost every way (off road, towing, power, features, etc..), and I am super happy with the ranger, I think the attention to detail and build quality overall was better on the Toyota
