300ish miles of range with the extension that's plenty for most. Congrats, it's a really neat truck with lots of cool tech, and skipping the gas pump is a win for sure. I put 91+ in the ranger and we've surpassed 4$ gallon, I totally get it. It's also wild that the fuel economy is still on par...
I'm not paranoid, but I completely realize some abnormality. If I don't give the truck ample to warm up, the first shift (from 1-3) is pretty rough. This is eliminated if I let it idle for a bit before speeding off.
Other weirdness is the very occasional rough downshift when coming to an...
Like the title says, I went through a soft touch wash with the fuel filler door open, just filled up the tank right before.
No way significant water got into the tank?
I noticed a minor difference in fuel economy (+2 mpg ish) running 91 octane vs 88 (mid grade). What really sold it for me was the throttle response from 0 mph was much better
Aren't there preventative steps documented somewhere? I think I've heard of a 'pool noodle' mod, and some feedback around the forums where users are saying that buying the engine cover alone is no guarantee it will prevent this from happening.
Just looking to see what others are doing, that...
It's a known issue. Ford's paint warranty covers defects in the original factory-applied paint for up to three years or 36,000 miles. If you're out of this threshold, I recommend having a trusted body shop help with the repair & some will offer aftermarket clearcoat treatments (there are also...
Mine did not come preloaded with any maps. They provide the performance calibration that you download after providing the vin and backing up your factory map to the tuner. My understanding is that the module/part itself is all the same.
I purchased a display unit FPT from a dealer, must have...
This will be from a site that many of the major 12v shops in my area use for parts like this-

Both harnesses include wiring schematics and instructions
I recommend you use tow mode + stay in lower gears and use a weight distribution hitch. If you're worried about power, don't be- turbocharged vehicles shine at elevation. Stock tune is fine, but the ford performance tune is even better. I'm told the aftermarket maps are also quite nice.
Ford performance tune fixed so much of this for me; this is exactly how it should have performed out of the factory. I'm pleased with regular drive mode. I'll only use tow mode when towing, and sport mode when I need to hold gears around mountain passes and such.
