Hey y'all. I had some life changing events with the folks back home so I might need to look into downsizing. I've had this Scab for a year and love it. Sadly I've been finding that I don't use the bed very often and now that my commute has changed I need something with better MPG and a bit smaller. I've been checking out the Bronco Sport Big Bend and Outerbanks. Leaning more towards the Outerbanks as it has some nicer add-ons. But hey, I can get it in green! Haha. I've read about the recalls and some people don't like the smaller engine but honestly I feel like this will fit me better now that things are changing. Yes the 2.0l looks great but I don't need that sort of power and I don't plan on off-roading. I used to drive a 18 Ford Escape Titanium so it should be the same ride, so to speak. I've been checking out the Bronco Sport forums and it really comes down to if I want more bells and whistles on the OBX or simplicity on the Big Bend.

Could use some feedback honestly. Part of me doesn't want to get rid of the Scab but on the other hand the Sport is what will help with costs, commute, city driving and looks department haha. At least I can have a flat platform to mount a kayak on. And the rubber back seat covers/cargo floor will help. All I have right now is a tonneau cover over the bed. I thought I'd get more use with it but even then it's starting to feel a bit much than what I need now.

My wife has a MY21 BS-OB, and we are pleased with it.

One thing I like is you don’t need to have T-Rex arms to work the window controls and came with a heated steering wheel. Something the Ranger lacks even with a Lariat PKG. FORD brain trusts make me shake my head.

Not sure why Keith said "Don't", however we have a Bronco Sport Badlands and we get about 29 MPG driving easy with the 4 cylinder turbo. It is a great vehicle, plenty of room for me and I am 6'2" and it is comfy. My wife is 5' tall, so it fits her fine with tons of room for her as well. Not as much room as in the Explorer she had before, however it works fine for us. The OBX is a sweet looking BS as well. I think you would be very happy with it! Good Luck on your decision!

You know your circumstances so you have to do you. But since saving money is a part of your thought process, wouldn't you save even more by simply getting an Escape?

Best of luck in whatever you do.

I see a bunch of Badlands but the point of downsizing for me is to look at something around $30-$35k and fit my active needs but also more seating. That's awesome to hear I'm 6'2'' and constantly adjusting my seat since I switch from boots to sneakers to crocs haha. I personally think the OBX will be great since I'm used to lariat/titanium bells and whistles. Would be nice having the rubber floors on the Badlands but it's not worth it for what I need.

I missed the heated steering wheel! I was looking all over the truck when I first got it and I was like "FORD, WHY?!" haha. How is the cargo space with the rear seats down? I was checking out the rear back seat rubber covers and the pad so I can store my gravel bike and outdoor gear after use.

Sounds like the Outer Banks would be a good option for you! Have you test drove one yet?

I like the looks of the Bronco Sport over the Escape and I'll be test driving one soon to confirm that "want". After going through the custom builder it was close in price to what I wanted for the Escape/Bronco Sport. Thank you I appreciate it.

Not yet. I sent a wishlist to the dealer (custom order) and will test drive one that they have on the lot before signing anything. I love the eruption green and too bad the Ranger only had that color for a short period of time AFTER I already made my order last year.

If you really are looking to save money, calculate how much you will save in fuel for the small increase in MPG per year, then divide that into any difference you need to shell out for the trade. That will tell you how many years it will take to see savings. Likely only worth it if you don't pay much more than you get for your trade.

Agree with this. It seldom (i.e. never) makes sense to trade vehicles for a marginal mpg improvement. And it almost never makes sense to “downsize” by buying a new car, especially if you’re financing it. Sorry, dad mode off.

If you need the inside room, seating with a Bronco Sport/ Escape, That would be gain. Otherwise you would probably lose out on the trade value with the Ranger. Make sure you weigh all the pluses and minuses before you take a loss. Good luck with your decision.

haven't tried putting a bike in the bike with the seat down, I imagine you take the front wheel off there'd be no issue

our 110lbs Dogue De Bordeaux aka Hooch Dog enjoys the backseat to herself
