I'm planning a week long road trip in Massachusetts this summer. I like too see one state at a time. I've got a list of things so far bit it's hard to find everything. Anybody have any must see attractions? We really like scenery, history, etc. Not into the bar scene or nightlife.

Being from MA the whole Boston, Gloucester, Salem areas are full history and plenty of things to do. There's whale watching trips, duck boat rides, haunted house tours in Salem, Boston Tea Party ship & museum, trolley rides around the city, Freedom Trail walking tour around Boston, a day trip to Martha's Vineyard, the Boston aquarium, Fenway Park and The USS Constitution museum to name a few. If you like seafood you'll find some of the best in the country there. You have to have the Labstah! ?

You can book tours through the links:

After visiting the sites AzScorpion posted in the Boston area should you decide to head east Old Sturbridge Village is a relaxing step back in time to wind down before heading home.

Thanks Dave! Definitely planning a couple days in Boston. Lots of info about the revolution. Have Salem on my list too. Thanks for the links. They will be a big help.

I'm so glad you said this. I had debated on Sturbridge Village but was hesitant it would be a gimmick. Like the official billy the kid museum i went too in NM that had antique telephones and modern weapons on display and very little if anything to do woth billy. Lol

I will be sure to add Sturbridge to the list. It sounded neat when I read about it.

+ONE to Gloucester, Salem, and Boston’s Freedom Trail. Maybe drive the Cape up to Provincetown or take the ferry there from Boston Harbour. You really should check out Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. History everywhere - great state!

My only disappointment was Plymouth Rock - such a small and sad looking pebble. :(

Oh man. I was so excited too see that rock, not so much now lol. How does the ferry work? Like can I take my truck on it, or is it people only?

In South Boston there is Castle Island. There’s also an old lookout tower on top of G street.

Charlestown and the Bunker Hill monument.

Little Italy for Pizza and Mike’s Pastry for cannoli

Cambridge on the redline to see Harvard, Central and Kendall squares for some of the cool college areas.

You can take the commuter boat from Boston to Hingham and there’s a shipyard with good food and you can have a beer on the boat while you see all the Harbor Islands

I can’t be certain but I think it’s passenger only to Provincetown but vehicles to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.

Besides the rock, America's home town (Plymouth) has a replica of the Mayflower and Plymouth Plantation. You can take a harbor cruise and get to see the only Lighthouse in the US that has been fired upon by an enemy ship (British in 1812), Gurnett light. If you have an interest in seeing Provincetown there is a fast ferry that goes there daily, leaves at 10am and comes back at 4:30pm. If you go to Provincetown you need to have Barbeque Pepper Shrimp at the Lobster Pot. Also, Main St. Plymouth has a restaurant at every other door with what ever kind of food you desire.
