By the looks of the threads in the off topic section we all seem to have expensive taste. Guns, knives, woodworking and bikes are just as big a money pit as our trucks. ?

Well, that depends if you’re firing off hundreds of rounds at a time like Brian or not. ;) It’s a good thing he “makes” his own. (not a gun-guy so I don’t know what else to call it). I can’t imagine what he has spent on firearms. ?Heck, @BS67 probably spends as much on gun magazines (the kind you read) as I do on groceries. ;)

By the time Paul (@Sanctus Rimor ) gets that bike frame built up with top level components, wheelset, and front suspension, a pair of Honda CRF250 dirt bikes would still cost a lot less. That’s the problem when you start with a $3,000-$4,000 carbon fibre frame (depending on the rear shock).

So, yeah, big boys and their toys. ?

I have reloaded ammo for many years and have quite a bit stocked up so I can enjoy my shooting hobby. I am reloading 9mm for .20/round and 45acp for .22/round. Buying the components on the cheap is the secret! As far as mags Ive traded/bought/sold mags to get my stock. Helped when I had my FFL.
How much spent on firearms?......more than what Ive told the wife! Lol

I'll come in under 10k on this build, and probably even under 9. I cant remeber who here rides/knows bikes, but I'm probably going to swap out that rear shock for the Float X. Fortunately, the rear shock only costs have what the front does.

Tradititionally ride Cervelo road bikes, but have a BMC Hard Tail. Like my Ranger, first thing I bought were Rolf Wheels to lighten it up.

With bikes it is... Grams = $ The less grams you want, the more it costs.

I too bounce around with the cars, the studio, the bikes, the pets, and of course guns too.

I might need a custom adapter for that. Maybe @DukeCanBuildit ?
That would be some crazy long travel DH bike, wouldn’t it? For the biggest drops only.

It’s mostly XC for me, so, like @1pt21gw with his sweet Canadian-made ??Cervelo road bikes, I’m a bit of a gram weenie and it’s been painful on the wallet.

Had FOX Float front suspension on my Scott with Scott branded rear shock but I think it’s a FOX. First time for that brand. I mostly had RockShox SID Race fronts because it was what most of the manufacturers spec’s on their XC racing models. FOX was always more of a trail/enduro/all-mountain spec and definitely built for it.

Trail and all mountain are my first love, and 70-80% of my riding. I do like to go out and some all day xc rides, and this bike will do for that. And I am def OK with lesser climbing performance for more stable bombing the descents. I'm going see how this one does as the "do-it-all" bike. "Worst" case scenario...I just have to buy another bike (Epic maybe?)

It is always N+1.

N = the number of bikes you currently own.

btw - this can apply to a lot of things, so be cautious of how much you use it. Especially if the other half is some what keen to what you may or may not be up to.

I would spend all Spring and summer training and racing XC - strict diet, schedule, regime. Come Fall, I’d go total dirt bag, get out on my all-mountain and longer travel bikes with their slow, bouncy ride up just so I could enjoy the ride down that much more. Even shuttled with my 4g Ranger and a friend‘s Dakota.

It is always N+1.

IF N=10 GOTO END……or not.

Bike bros can be as bad as crossfit bros.

Want to know if a bike bro has a $5,000 custom framed bike? Don't worry he'll tell you.
