I'm on the coast in Central California, so it doesn't get very cold (relatively) here, and we set our heat to 68, just two of us, and this month, our natural gas bill is going from $245 to almost $500!
I thought $245 was a lot. I'm wondering if everybody that has natural gas is experiencing the same thing, or it's just another California screw job.

Ours is set to 71 and my last bill here was $52.00. That's for the heat, hot water, dryer, stove and bbq. Sounds like CA raised their rates again.

If we can't get you to stop using it by regulation, we'll just make it so you can't afford it.

A few localities in maine have seen their nat gas service double in cost lately.

You guys heat settings though damn..

I'm happy with 55 in the winter and 68 in the summer lol.
When you're use to 100+ temps anything below 70 is freezing! ? It's really different out here because back in MA 67 was about the average I left my heat on and around 70 for the ac. Here the ac is set around 80 but you have to remember in the middle of summer it's 110+ outside with a week that usually averages 115-117.

Ok, guess I shouldn't complain about my first $150 gas bill in a long time. But I will...
I was locked in to a $1.99/mcf for 2 yrs. Contract expired in Oct and best rate I could find that fit my requirements was at $6.79/mcf. Gas rate was more than triple what I paid previously. :headbang: Told the wife she would need to work overtime if she wanted to be warm this winter.

Edit: And BTW, we never get off topic here.

We are on a fixed budget bill, same each month and no settle up at end of year, if my yearly usage goes up my bill creeps up. Heat at 70-71 all year , on a fixed budget on elect too. Gas bill runs about $55 a month. Haven't looked at it this year, Terri pays the bills. Electric runs just over $100 a month.

PG&E warned the rates were going to rise. I just paid my bill today and it was up about $100.

I had to go look at my current bill. Why did I do that ??‍♂ I knew our rates were going up in January but wow! They went up!!! Granted mine is heat, hot water, stove, dryer but man that’s a hefty hike!

It went up in Pennsylvania this past month. The bill was much higher this month $205, compared to other winter months as we usually spend about $140 in the winter for heat, cooking, hot water, dryer however, it was the holidays and we had a pretty good cold spell for a week so I can’t call it the norm.

Fortunately, in the warm months, it only costs us $20-25 per month so it’s just the winter where it gets high.

No heat here(in the house). My AC units are set at 25 C(77 F) 24/7. My electric is about $150 a month. But I also have 2 fridges, 2 tv's and many fans.

If you can’t take the summer heat you don’t deserve winter cool ????

Move out of that state before it’s two late. Best thing I ever did for my family. I sat by and watched many of the areas I used to fish, hike, and bike ride become overrun by miles of homeless encampments, graffiti, and trash. Not a single politician cares because they don’t have to live around it and see the literal filth everyday. They also don’t t care how much you spend in useless taxes and increased prices (apparently one being natural gas) because once again it doesn’t affect them. Get out while you still can. My quality of life has honestly tripled since leaving and I can now provide for my family with relative ease without worrying about what price/tax will they raise next. Just a humble opinion from someone who spent 25 years growing up in that state and watching it deteriorate.
