I've been looking for a good balaclava that will fit under my helmet. I've got some nice neck gaiters, a skull cap that fits well under my helmet, and a nice warm balaclava for riding when it's down below 0F (which is most of the winter). But it'd be nice to have a lighter one for those times between 0F and +20F. That's the range when my skull cap and neck gaiter aren't warm enough, but my thicker balaclava is too warm and I get sweaty under it, which isn't good when you stop to take a break and it's +10F.

I like the orange too. My biking jacket is orange, mostly so I can easily be seen both during hunting season and if I crash and need help I'll be easier to spot. I've got a small head, do you think this one will work? A lot of the ones I find end up being too baggy and won't stay up or provide enough protection.

I have a large head (7.5") and this is snug on me and stetchable so it might work for you. I checked the reviews before buying and it is acceptable for a large head. There might be some info. in the reviews about it fitting a smaller head size. Orange and yellow are my favorite colors.

I also have a lighter weight mask for warmer weather which is also stretchable, and it is a snug fit on me also. The reviews might help you to check on the size range. I need face and neck protection from the sun here in our climate because of skin cancer...have already had 3 on the face so will depend on this one to help prevent that.

What do you prefer in your winter biking glove size...the same size as a normal standard fitting glove or just a slightly bit larger?

I use fingernail to make a cut into it and then just pull the opposite side and the peel is off in less than second and the fruit is intact. Why not utilize god given tools

I too have started wearing more neck and face protection in the sun, even up here in the North. I've stared to get quite the collection of lightweight neck gaiters. haha They also help keep the bugs off the skin too, especially when doing yard work or whatever when you have your hands full.

As far as gloves, I either wear a pair of lightweight wool ones when it's below like +20F, or nothing when it's above that. The Bar Mitts I have work really well so I don't need anything crazy. And this is coming for a buy who has really cold hands all 8 months of winter.

I'm on the slim side and get cold easily in the winter so need extra covering... ?

Pro tip..... if you peel from the opposite end (non stem side) it peels open much easier. Had someone show me this over 20 years ago when he saw me opening one at work and the stem wouldn't pull apart.

But then you eat the banana bugs at the other end. That's why I start from the stem side throw away the last bite.
