They didn't cheap out. They had a production issue that they corrected and are now trying to fix the affected vehicles at no small expense.
The manufacturers don't really do this just to annoy us. That is the Dealers job.:explode:

If it takes ford a couple days or up to a week to repair this will they provide a rental for me to use? I have work to get to and I can’t really afford to spend money on a rental.

They provided me with rental at no charge, just top off the gas tank before returning it. (It was full, when I picked it up.)

Mine is done and home. Dropped it off Monday morning and picked it up today at noon so they had it 4 days. No issues, they even washed the truck and the interior was spotless. Had a loaner the whole time. One thing I noticed on the drive home is the truck seems to have less wind noise. If you saw my first post about the truck I said there was wind noise that seemed to be from the mirrors and it's better now. I wear hearing aids that pick up and amplify sounds like wind and tires so I really can notice a difference. Or maybe I am just a crazy old coot that thinks the radio now sounds better at lower volume. I say it was worth taking care of asap.

I don't know how glue can make a difference in the front wind noise but it did to me. Still a lot of road noise that seems to be coming through the back doors I plan on working on in the future. Hopefully others will chime in if they also see a wind noise after having the recall done. Wonder if maybe the glue was improperly applied missing some areas or shrunk away after curing. My dealer said new windshields are easier to work with then older ones. They get brittle with age so best to get it done asap.

Yes so sixty THREE thousand vehicles. That REALLY is an issue. You know, FORD has been making vehicles with windshields for a few years now. You'd think they would have that procedure down by now? You know, on something simple like that. Not complicated like like a 4WD transmission or turbo engine. Oh oh, just scared the sh!t out of myself. Now I might need a "catch can" or "walnut blasting" of the intakes?

And what have you produced in the hundreds of thousands?

I have called Ford and the dealer to confirm what the law AND Ford says - that there is NO expiration date on a recall such as this. Sooooo I'm going to enjoy my new / perfect (looking) Ranger. Some time, down the road, I may get a crack or chip in the windsheild. Then I'll deal with that and the recall issue all at once.
No expiration date. Think I'll wait for a crack or chip before having it done.
No leaks or wind noise now

Got my notice and took it to a dealer I trusted, but unknown to me the previous owner sold it. The new owners hadn't changed the sign yet so far as I knew it was still the old dealer. A bunch of new faces for the service writers which isn't uncommon for me since I used to do most of my own work. I think that is going to the wayside though as I get older and these trucks get more complicated. So I get a notice on my Ford pass app the my collision avoidance system was deactivated. Thought okay I know they are working on it. I pick it up the next day and told the service writer about my notification and looks at the truck and says no warning light your good to go. Fine Ive only had the truck for 3 weeks at the time and not familiar of all the new systems yet. So as I'm driving to work I noticed some black smudges on the headliner by the camera in a place hard to see but can't be unseen when you do. This is my first trip back and they clean them off and glad they came off. So now I'm wondering about the camera and hook up forscan and find a code for the camera calibration "great". Set up anther appointment go in only to told we don't have an appointment for you and its going to take 3-5 hours not 40min that I was told. I set up another appointment and told a different SW I need a rental now because you guys dropped the ball on this. After some talking back and forth they finally agree. I go in and the SW that sat up the appointment denied even talking to me. After some more words and her looking on the computer and seeing the approval I got my rental. 40 min later I get a call truck is ready, so instead of keeping the rental for the day I go and pick it up. 2 months later and crash avoidance system still doesn't work and no codes in any of the modules green across the board. Well I'm not taking it back to them I'll eventually try another dealer.

Moral of this great wall of text is: those of you who waited might be the smart ones, end of story :lipssealed:

WhooHoo!!! Ifinally got on the waiting list 18th @ Brandon Ford, she explained they book 3 at a time due to rental availability. She also explained it is outsourced would take at lest 4 days t(take windshield out, grind out the adhasive, prep the surface and reinstall) and if they break the windshield it would have to be ordered as they do not stock them. This is hard to believe as BF sells tons of these trucks and surly they have broken more than one taking it out but whatever, at least I am on the list! My biggest worry at this point is damage to the truck and OEM windshield god forbid they break it, but me better half says I worry too much!

PS - Ford recall paper says 1/2 day, others on this board say theirs took a day and 1/2 and others say 4 days. Are the outsourcing companies screwing Ford???

sounds like it
