i believe the tailgate locks with a key, but not with the fob.
My tailgate locks and unlocks with both the key and fob. Simultaneously with the door locks when using the fob.
Not sure if this feature is standard or comes with the package. I have the 101A.

From Ford.com, 101A includes:

Cruise control
Power mirrors
Day/night rearview mirror
Perimeter anti-theft
Remote key fob with tailgate lock
Six speaker radio
SYNC

I gotta have cruise control, everything else I could live without. Unplugged the tailgate lock after a few months since it was a pain in the butt.
Fortunately, I like all of these features but like you, cruise control is the top priority...can't live without it!

The dealers are still telling me that the 101A isn't available for order with a 2023. Something about certain things being removed from the package.
.
Anyone else heard anything like that for the XL orders for MY2023?
all I heard was my 2019 101a and STX just went up in value

STX added fog lamps and the dual side view mirrors(forgot what ford calls them) both worth it to me

I miss the manual tailgate lock on my 2022…not that I ever use it, but like manual door locks, one more thing that relies on electronics not failing.

That's what I keep telling my dad. I'm 22, I deserve it. ;)
Heck yeah. I bought my first new car at 22yo (1978 Monte Carlo Landau). Had already bought a number of decent used cars/trucks/motorcycles beginning 7 years earlier.

Times are alot tougher on the average 22yo these days and have been for a long time. My buying power began slowly collapsing in the late 1970s. Retired in 2017.

Social Security Disability kinda keeps up with inflation but my union disability pension is frozen in time forever, or until it disappears. I was able to retire at average annual earnings plus a substantial amount of cash.

Gotta make the best of it from now on.

So, you actually still get a manual lock on the tailgate with the very base XL ?

I could do without all those features except the self adjusting rear view mirror. Never had one before my ranger and now I can't live without it. If you're light sensitive at all it's a must have. Personally i think the self locking tailgate is annoying, but I usually keep the bed empty.
Agree on the auto dimming rear view mirror. Had it first on my 1998 Mustang GT and have had it ever since.

All I did was unscrew the access panel on the tailgate, unplugged the power lock, and wrapped it with electrical tape to keep water out. I can still lock it with the key if I need.

I agree with you, but I drive barely 5000 miles a year. I have cruise control on my 2010 vehicle with 65,000 miles and think I might have used it twice. Now, adaptive cruise control I could see using, but where I live is too stop and go, and Oregonians drive in whatever lane whatever speed they feel like.
Agree on Oregonian drivers with a heavy splash of California drivers. I retired and left there. Beautiful state but governed like crap.

On the XL model with the STX pkg. the manual lock is removed.

Personally I would get it. My theory is you've worked hard your whole life and as long as you can afford it why not splurge a little and get it all? Mine is fully loaded and I've never had all this stuff on any truck before. Now that I do I really like them and I found that I use most of these features more and more.

For me I'd never buy another vehicle without keyless entry or start. It's really nice never to have to take the fob out of your pocket. I know first world problems. lol
Comes with everything? Bet the damper was extra...?

Andy,
Did the manual lock removal start in 2021? My 2020 STX has the manual tailgate lock. The fob also locks and unlocks the tailgate lock in unison with the door locks. I really like this feature.

Maybe they changed it later but my 2020 STX has a manual tailgate lock.
