When I was thinking about replacing my stock exhaust I was concerned the sound would be weak. Well I was totally wrong. I put the Ford performance exhaust on the truck by Borla and I LOVE it.

it has A deep tone when you start it up and looks sweet.

I only paid $950 for it from Stage 3 Motorsports. The price has now gone to $1245 and I am not sure I would have paid that much.

I have had no issues at all with the exhaust.
Most exhausts aren't worth the money companies ask for, honestly. They just know we'll pay because deep down were simpletons who like noise.

I'm willing to bet that between materials and labor, a company like borla has about 150$ into that catback they want 1200$ for lol.

The import crowd has it the best.. loads of ching-chong stainless catbacks for way less than half the price of a greddy or injen system would be.

A 4banger is more or less always gonna sound like a 4banger, especially at higher revs.

I have an afe muffler delete on my truck and it has a nice low(er) growl/burble at lower revs.. but you mash the pedal and there's no mistaking what kinda motor is making the noise.
Does this mean you removed the muffler? I just bought first truck (used), I see the AFE Power exhaust tip (came with the truck) but when I look under my truck all I see are straight pipes.

Yes. I bought the Apollo GT kit, it replaces the exhaust from the joint up-stream of the muffler to the rear of the truck with straight 3" pipe and then their big ol tip.

I couldn't agree more. I built the cat back exhaust for my 15 Ecoboost Mustang. Two Magnaflow stainless muffers $70 each, a stainless Y pipe was $30, a 6' length of stainless pipe was $20 and two stainless tips were $40. Total cost was $230 for essentially the same cat back system that Magnaflow was selling for $900.

I bought all the parts from Summit except the tips that came from Amazon. The material cost to Magnaflow was likely less than 50% of my $230.

I guess that's what I have as well. Can provide the exact name or model of the item, there seems to be different ones. I'm from CA, will this set up affect my emissions such as smog check? #novicequestion :)

I don't believe a muffler does jack shit for emissions, but Cali may still pitch a fit for some reason or another lol.

Personally, I'm gonna have to weld a dummy muffler into my exhaust somewhere before next year so I can get it stickered. It's not loud enough where the place I go to would fail me.. but an exhaust DOES need some sort of 'muffling device' lol so a dummy muffler will be easy peasy and perfect.

Thanks for all the information. It looks like the exhaust has been on my truck for a while because it got stickers this past February. I just bought my truck used a week ago

The previous owner may have switched back to stock to get a sticker? Or installed it right after.

I was originally intending on just going back to stock to get my stickers, but.. turns out it's kind of a pain in the butt by yourself so I decided my way is easier lol.

This same logic is applicable to anything, including the truck itself. "Worth" comes down to an individuals wants or needs.

You're right.

A simple fact of life is that unless something can be proved with math or science... its 100% subjective.

My stance is that there's no good God damn way I'm spending 1200$ on a bit of pipe, because it's unreasonable.

Flashy status symbol seekers think "shiiiit brah, sounds gnarrrrrrrrr.. put it on the capital oneski"

It's all perspective ? I'm happy, hopefully they are.
