More than Satisfied with these truck’s MPG!

XLT FX4 Screw, Drove from Southern Illinois down to Florida going 75mph, bed loaded with vacation gear and the family packed in. Average 21 tooling around town. Used 93 all the way down. Tire pressure at 40 psi. $120 to get to the beach ain’t to shabby!

Just a heads up, if you get a chance (if you haven’t already), do a few hand calculations using what the pump says you bought with the mileage your odo says you drove.

When I first got my truck, my truck was reporting, I think, in the 25’s. When I checked it against the manual calculation, I lost like 2 mpg. Not terrible and still very happy, just not astounding.

As a person that does 70+ on the open road I don’t expect great mpg. That said I really like my mpg all things considered.. probably unacceptable to a few but realistically it’s great!!!

There’s something about how easy you can get over 70+ with these trucks and seemingly going 65 is crazy to me. My throttle control comes from the right hand seat… otherwise I just let it happen when it’s unoccupied.. I know I shouldn’t but why have it and not use it? Okay safety nanny’s flame suit on. ?

I've seen right at 26 on a tank doing 55-70mph for 98% of it (hand calculation was really close to the displayed mpg). When I took a trip to far west texas with higher speed limits and lots of open roads... mpg wasn't looking so good. Mine drops REALLY quickly when you get any faster than 70.

Download the Fuelly app. You enter you info there and it calculates every fill up for you and stores it in the app. You can also store all your service records there if you want.

I'm not suprised depending on the conditions(wind speed and direction, hills and things). Least year going to Michigan and back with the 33's I was able to get around 26 going out there and around 18 coming back. What was the big difference? Wind primarily. It sucked but it is what it is.

I reset the mpg display at every fill-up. I average 20-21 on almost every tank in mixed driving which is literally 50% better than my old Sport Trac. I run either 89 or E15 88. MPG is a little better with 89 over 87 so it doesn't really cost more to run 89.

I am the guy who is happy about the mileage it gets under a lead foot, you guys look at the big number.

I look at the small number, that's where this truck shines, you can beat on one of these trucks and about the worst mileage you can average is 15 mpg, I came from a F150 that would regularly be at 7-8 mpg.

Don't get me wrong the mpg on the freeway/highway is good, but the mileage on the throttle is great!!

Here is a great example, 110 mph, 16-17 mpg 2800 rpm at 108 degrees, performed on a closed course, of course!

Same. I miss my old ranger though, would like to get another one as a second vehicle. 2wd stick shift got 29mpg highway!
