Oh boy, am I likely to get a summons from Post Patrol on this post.

Going to have my 5100’s installed soon, front and rear on my MY 22 Crew with FX4 PKG and Tow PKG.

Rears are a no brainer.

Towing is not an issue and no plans to lift or bury the axle in mud but snow is another issue for me so now the question.

Now that you have several miles on theses shocks, would you change or leave the front settings as is.

I'm thinking position 3 but OK with position 1 because when I look at the truck it’s after a few ounces of BOOKERS and don’t notice a rake.

Does either position impact ride quality or handling?

Boils down to any regrets using 1 or 2 or 3?

Thanks

I’ve been asking around extensively about this as I’m getting ready to do the fronts soon. You can check my recent posts to see people’s replies.

The consensus has been that people are happy with whatever they’ve chosen for height. Some think 2.5 and 1.8 stiffen up the ride too much. I’ve also read that the stock springs can only provide up to 2 inches of lift which excludes the 2.5 setting. Some with the 1.8 are still very happy with the upgrade for the price.

Those with the 1.2 report a stiffer ride but still have indicated being very happy with it.

I expect to go with 1.2 when the time comes but reserve the right to change my mind!

First I've heard of that. I did 2.5 and the front was higher than the rear so that can't be right.
I thought I saw this in a couple places that the springs are only rated for 2 inch, but it might a typo.

Thanks, that’s the feedback I’m looking for. I forgot as you raise them the ride gets stiffer. I don’t have the tools to do the front so my desire is to pay once.

Had another member @Dr. Zaius indicate yesterday he is very happy with 1.8.

Here is my CG Screw done. 5100 with 1.8 in front and 1 inch in rear using BSD Shackles. I wanted to be sure I still can tow without having a bad squat in the rear.

Ride is still good and much better than the stock FX2/FX4 shocks. Also one of my shocks was already leaking and it has less than 4000 miles and no off-road use yet

Looks awesome. Doesn’t look like the gap is too large in front wheel well with stock tires either.

Did you do front and back at the same time?

How was the BSD shackle install?

back First that I did myself. I had my shop do the Shackles, Fronts and alignment. The Shackles look pretty simple but I decided to let them do it.

Since you had already done the rear, did you notice an additional improvement after doing the front at 1.8? Ride, sway, etc.

The thing that really kills me is every once in a while at slow speeds, I hit the right bump/incline and go back and forth a full 3 times (left, right, left, right, left, right). Feels like I’m riding at a rodeo. I’m hoping the front upgrade will eliminate this.

The front to back motion is much more controlled. With the rears only you would still get that effect but the fronts eliminated this 90% of the time. The side to side motion is still there just more controlled and better damped. Honestly with the lift I don't think you can escape this seeing as its a truck. I will do some more testing and pay attention report back.

Awesome. Good to know. I expect it to still feel like a truck but that occasional bucking bronco is so weird!

Also the person in the car behind you wants to know why you are taking her picture!

If you are using the stock springs, so you know... on the 5100's as you want more lift and with each step from 0' lift to 2.5" setting the stock spring is being compressed to lift the front end a little bit more. This will make the ride a bit stiffer.

1.8" seems to be the popular choice, unless your are changing springs. SO choose wisely.

Edit: I do not know who I was replying to in this thread, so consider this an informational post.

Thanks, no lift and using OEM springs.

I’m old school and believe the only dumb question is the one not asked even if results in a citation from Post Patrol.
