Installed the Aeroskin LightShield Hood Protector from American Trucks. Stick on was easy to do over my lunch hour brake. Did the wiring after dinner then took the pictures to capture the effect. I like it.
i noticed aeroskin also makes one that goes on the cab with lights similar to clearance or running lights on the roof. i think its basically the same as your just different placement. ive been waiting to see if someone has a review of them first before spending money on one. thank you!

Wow, I couldn't have asked for nicer or better customer service. I had bought directly from Bak and did a support ticket yesterday with the same pics I've posted here.

Within a few minutes, they sent me a FedEx return label and will send me an entire new Revolver. They said just to use that box and I can schedule FedEx to pick it up the old one when I'm ready.

Bak really came through for me and I hope this replacement lasts a long time because I do like how it works both closed and open (and for the price, it ought to give me a neck and shoulder massage as I'm driving down the road! ).=)

Stay tuned for a later update ...

PS - Yes, I have to remove all the parts and reinstall, but since I've already done that twice, I'm a seasoned installer! =p
Woohoo, it's like a gift that keeps giving (except for the 81 pound box!).

Bak came through and, in less than a week, the replacement Revolver X4s just arrived.

So tomorrow or Saturday, I'll remove all the hardware and stick it all in the new box and call FedEx to come pick it up. They already sent me the shipping label.

I'm pretty happy with their customer service and I sure hope this one lasts for many years!

Note the old KC Hiliters on the FJ40, I thought I was king of the world when I installed them in 1980! Relay and everything, including a huge amperage draw when flipped on!

Took it to the bodyshop.
Some of you may remember I finally got my truck last Friday but there was some paint issues like something rubbed on it and another small place the paint had got messed up either from being stuck on truck island for months or during shipping.
Anyway Dealership called me and wanted to know if I could run it to the bodyshop so they could take pictures and then quote the dealership and setup when to bring it in to have it worked on...this bodyshop is beyond top notch so no worries it'll come back looking good

i hope it goes well. waiting on your truck to come back from the shop is tough. i dont like the idea of strangers touching her! i like my body shop and trust them. but - i did take down the exact miles and fuel. also left the dash cam audio video on so anytime the key is on i will know what happens lol.

The bodyshop they're using is the one I've used a few times in the past. That's why I'm confident in the work being done right. It's not the dealership :like:

I just need to know now when the body shop can get me in.

I'm going to have to get a dashcam also

I need to educate myself on dashcams, I have no clue how they work but can see their value. I have an Osmo Action (similar to GoPro) and can probably do something similar but not as convenient (it can stream to a phone).

What brand and model are you looking at?

And good luck with a speedy body shop visit done right! =)

David I installed a Thinkware U1000 last year and really love it. It’s 4K and has great really clear video/pictures. you can go to www.blackboxmycar.com and check them out.

I’m stopped in Cheyenne now so I can’t link it but just search dash cams and you should find a couple threads on it.

Purple crap runnin' down the side.....on the hood.......on the top......on the fender........well, drove 'er home cussin' birds with alot of foul (pun intended) language......all cleaned up and waiting to see what tomorrow in the parking lot brings. I don't even park near any trees!

I’m sorry to laugh, but I feel your pain. Birds seem to be targeting ‘Ol Butterscotch lately too. Aggravating!

Thanks for the link, looks like lots of great choices (do you do rear as well?).

And, like everything else, you can spend a bit and also a bit more!

I'm getting closer to having an XL that's as expensive as a Lariat! =)

And it sure is fun!

I like the one post, somewhere here, where they laid a short green bungie on the mirror to keep the birds away.

Maybe I’ll try that. Last year I put bags around the mirrors & the birds stayed away. That was a little aggravating putting them on & taking them off everyday(lazy, I know:blush:).
