After the helicopter ride we drove back over to Custer State Park. We had lunch out in the picnic area and walked around Lake Sylvan. We stopped there briefly the first day but figured wed come back and walk it another time. We also hike 1/3 the way up towards Black Elk Peak but it was getting to steep and rough for Annie's knee. There was a good lookout there so we stopped to rest, took a couple pics and made it back down without falling. She's still pretty sore but she's a trooper and won't let anything ruin our fun.

You can walk all around these huge rock formations and the back one you have to go over the top of them.

You end up walking at the base of the picture above and you come to a crevice that had a waterfall tucked inside it. It's hard to see it and most walked right by it.

There's a trail head by the parking lot which brings you up to Black Elk Peak. It's just over 3 miles each way so we made it about 1/3 before her knee started to ache. Still a nice short hike with a small view.

Dave, if you're close to Hill City which is right down the road from Keystone you might stop by Red Ass Winery. Got some great tasting wines there.

Great pics, Dave!
Thanks Brian! It was really a great experience going up in one. I almost had her talked into once when we were in Sedona but that one was tied to a Time Share tour and I didn't feel like wasting 2-3 hours doing it.

We're heading up to Deadwood tomorrow and if we have time I'll stop there on the way back. That's if this one isn't closed down too.:LOL:?

Main St of Deadwood.....a place called the Midnight Star......casino owned by Kevin Costner. Well known for the poorest pay-out in Deadwood but lotsa neat stuff to see from his movies. Also, while Annie is gambling?.......you drink for FREE!

We'd thaw ya out come spring.....you'd be fine! Besides......snow is fun!

I moved to AZ to get away from it. I lived in MA for just over 50 years and while I really don't mind the snow, it's the freezing cold I hate. Trust me between CO and SD I really love these states but I just can't do really cold temps anymore. But we're really seriously thinking of a travel trailer again (almost bought one last year) just for those months. We could alternate between these states every other year so a lot to think about.

Thanks Brian I'll definitely check it out. I like looking at memorabilia like that.
