I love the LEDs, didn't think they would be as good as they are. Regardless, no way is 500 enough to make you whole. In this situation, I would get an XLT and save a few bucks. Don't give away your hard earned money to Ford Corporate, that's what the horse will do anyway???

I guess it depends on your idea of "good" aftermarket LED headlight housings. You can get some AlphaRex LEDs for $850, and I'd consider them to be good. The labor of having them installed by someone would be a lot I'd imagine, if you didn't want to do it yourself. I installed a set myself this past weekend in my 2019 XLT and it took a few hours from start to finish, including some hiccups along the way. But I understand that not everyone has ability (time, skill, tools, etc.) to it themselves.

Either way, I would agree that $500 is not enough to compensate for removing LED headlights.
I plan on doing the same thing to my 2019 XL. Show some pics and let us know how you like them.

My question is what are the other items that were deleted? Meaning was it really a shortage in the headlight (which I doubt). If it was resistors or chips, can it be rectified easily by adding aftermarket’s, or will other items need to be added as well for th LEDs to function properly. Until someone receives there Lariat without the LEDs and tests an aftermarket solution, we may not know if they function/are compatible. which is why I would put it back on my dealer to replace the, for the agreed upon price, since they were part of the package that was originally ordered. Just my $0.02

No notice from dealer that this is happening (I blame my salesperson / order taker and not the dealership as this dealership is very well regarded here), but I'm wondering if the $500 credit is sufficient.

Are there any other Ford cars / trucks where LED headlights can be added as an option, and if so what is the option priced at? When I custom ordered my Mini Cooper years ago, LED headlights were a $1000 option.

Or, should we press Ford to offer us a "go to the dealer after delivery and have the headlight assembly be swapped out for $500 installed" option when more LED assemblies are available?

I'd be more unhappy about the no choice delete by Ford (other than walking) if this vehicle will see very little use - my current truck is 21 years old and only sees about 3000 miles a year if that. The Ranger is replacing it so I can tow a horse trailer in a CA fire emergency - the horse that I do not have yet and will be gotten as part of the "happy wife, happy life" program ;)
$500 is absurd...

I'm disenchanted with Ford because they took $2K for the 501A equipment package on my '20 S/Cab, which includes the B&O sound system on S/Crews but not S/Cabs and didn't attempt to adjust the price of the package accordingly. True, the sales literature does state this change, but at least give S/Cab buyers a break in the price of the package.

While I prefer the asthetics of the LED headlights to the halogens, according to IIHS safety tests, the halogens tested marginally better than the LEDs! Neither were excellent. Read the results for yourself here. From a purely functional perspective the halogens are the better value - by far. If you have a beef with the results, take it up with the IIHS. I am simply a messenger.

I would not want any Ford promises for the future. Just look at the history of Bronco promises about reservations, and allocations to dealers and how MSRP will be honored to the customer. Don’t even get into the it’s not Ford it’s the dealers that add a markup.

LEDs are the way to go and $500 is not even close to the replacement cost. And it’s not always a simple swap out of factory wiring that was not for LED from the start.
So this was an interesting question to me. DID the LED trucks have a different wiring or just another control unit.
Thinking about an upgrade because the world models wildtrak halogen lights are a bad joke and aftermarket stuff isn‘t allowed due to this stupid german laws…

The LED headlights are awesome and I personally would refuse a Lariat package without them. Now the LED foglights are another srory and 500 bux you could greatly upgrade them.

So far so good. Won't be dark enough for awhile to test out the new low/high beams, since it's "summer" now. At least as far as sunrise and sunset times go. Haven't taken any "Instagram worthy" pictures yet, just these impromptu shots to show off to friends and family who care.

DRL mode; apparently stays amber due to the Forscan selections I made for my previous XLT headlights, which I'm not complaining about since full ambers was what I wanted anyways

I hear you on the fog lights. I went with the yellow ones from diode dynamics 2 years ago and am still very happy with them.

In forscan, there is a setting that allows your low beams to stay on when you turn on your high beams. That way both beams are activated giving you plenty of light.
