Is brake shudder an issue with these vehicles? My 2019 with 32K miles developed a bad shudder while braking after they were warmed up.

Took it to local repair shop I know well. He said brake pads were fine but front rotors were warped. Because they were original, they had enough mass to turn them down, which he did.

Lasted a week and it's back to shuddering as bad as before. I don't tow.

At this point, I'm probably going to just buy new front rotors and install them myself.

Any recommendations?

Sounds like you're doing some heavy braking, riding the brakes, A lot of towing, or a combination of all 3.
When the Brake Rotors heat up, they will warp, causing a shimmy in the steering wheel, while braking, especially when hot.
My suggestion- get Good quality front replacement Rotors-gonna cost you. Don't have the Rotors cut.
Stay with Genuine Ford Pads-get them at the Dealer, or make sure they are the Real deal from an outside source.
Better in the long run to spend a little extra coin when it comes to Brakes.

No heavy braking. No riding the brakes. LOL!! And I haven't towed with it yet.

Did the shop tell you what the runout on the rotors were and was it both sides?

If they are so far gone the issue came back; get something that isn't Ford. I am partial to power stop stuff, cost vs performance.

How much do you use the automatic cruise control? Or trail control?

I use the auto cruise control a lot. Lots of freeway miles back and forth between Utah and CA. It's hilly as well. I've turned off the auto braking and cruise following distance as I don't really care for them.

Haven't yet needed to use the off-road terrain system

Thanks. That's what aim looking for, suggestions on brand of new rotors. Not concerned with cost. I will be towing a 5000 pound trailer this summer up and down a steep mountain, so I want to replace rotors and pads before then.

Good chance it's the rears rather than the fronts. Fairly certain the ACC uses rear brakes to maintain following distances. Several others have reported rear brake/rotor issues.

Interesting. Does it use them to maintain speed down a hill? If so that may be a clue. I'll have to check the rears. As Instated above, I disabled the auto following distance and breaking on the cruise as I don't care for them.

Could have a sticking caliper either the slide or piston. When I lived up north I would lube them every fall.

Good point. I wouldn't expect it on a vehicle so new but I've had an issue with a sticking rear caliper on my 2010 Fusion. Seemed I needed to replace the same one every other year. Mentioned it to my mechanic and he found a blocked hose to the caliper. Replaced that and been good since.

After I had a caliper completely lock up then fall apart at 70mph, I learned something. Preventative maintenance. Wasn't big on it as a teenage.

Oh the things I survived as a teen or early 20's. Glad I can afford to avoid those problems now.
