No big secret that Ranger shocks are little more than pogo sticks. To add insult to injury, these trucks are priced at a premium and have been decontented year after year.

*****************************************

Should new Ranger buyers negotiate proper shock absorbers into their sales contract?

Should people who have already purchased new Rangers and replaced the useless shock absorbers sue Ford for reimbursement?

I spent $985 to replace my low buck, bottom dollar, useless shock absorbers/struts 'out of pocket'. My 3/36 is up next month.

*****************************************

Opinions please. Stock Image: Bilstein 4600 OEM style shock absorbers.

Has Ford changed the factory shocks since I bought my Lariat back in 2019? Are you a professional shill for Ford? Inquiring minds want to know.

lol, no shill here. All 4 corners of mine have been replaced. But for a free flowing short travel strut and shock they do perform well at medium speeds off-road. Which is how Ford advertises the FX4 package. Just because we like constipated shocks doesn't mean all other are trash. :p

I wont argue that Ford could have done better with the shocks on the Ranger but I doubt they will ever reimburse you for your aftermarket shocks..... Especially since you most likely have modified your Ranger anyway.

Hi Joe,

Good luck with this thread.....WHAM! The sound of the screen door slapping your a$$ on your way out. What is your goal with this post as you must know the answer is Ford will not pay you squat. Dealer...maybe to placate you, but not Ford....By the way....the shocks work just fine..

Glad these forums allow you to post your whine... Let others chime in...you are a minority of which seem to be overly vocal....

Might I suggest you turn in your Ranger for $$$ to the Dealer and go buy the TACO and suscribe to Taco World...

Phil

My extensive career educated me to the deployment of 'Labor Relations Consultants' (professional shills) into the workplace. My final employer may have been the greatest proponent of this abomination.

Waves of 'new hires' with little to no qualifications, most knew each other well in advance, usually hung around supervisors' offices and knew more than anyone else. Strangely, most knew nothing and had to be extensively trained. Primary objective? Raise productivity while driving wages and benefits into the ground - the People's Republic of China would have been proud.

I personally trained one who knew nothing about the job at hand but was clearly an IT Security Professional, well above my pay grade. He was assigned to me for a specific reason - I retired not long after.

Experience is priceless. :)

Nope - all stock (except for shocks), no 'leveling' - stock wheels, tires, etc. My truck depicted.

Should Ford reimburse us, I don't think so and with them deleting items I cant see them every doing it. Hopefully the next Gen Ranger gets better shocks. These are just OK but I've had the Fx4 package on all my F150's so I'm probably more use to them. With that said I'm replacing mine with Eibachs soon as mine are now feeling like they're at the end of their life. Plus I'll be keeping mine at least another 2 years so why not have some comfort.

Hi Phil,

I'm grateful you responded as you have been the primary proponent of the useless factory shocks. For those who don't know, contributor 'Frenchy' no longer owns(?) a Ranger - stated it was too 'troublesome'. Professional 'shill'? This thread will expose much and educate greatly.

I assumed you bought a 4WD , still a great setup.

My 2WD is the first new truck I have ever owned on which I did not need to change the shocks.
When I test drove the Ranger, all that was available was a 4WD...
I thought.... "this is real nice, but I think I'll get one set up for On Road".
