I honestly can’t believe it’s taken me this long to ask this question, but here it goes:

“Why in Gods name is there only one latch on the opposite side of the drivers side to pull the back seat bench down?”

… unless I’m missing something here.. worst design flaw ever? ????

Your's has two tabs? Mine only has the one between the passengers and middle headrest.

It's crazy, usually as a model progresses features are added, the Ford product seems to be in a regression, features are eliminated not added.

I was really surprised to see all the stuff on my son's early 2020 that my 2021 did not have, as well as what's on the list that's floating around here.

I dont know how many people here get the Ford Authority news, it's a daily Independent Ford news email, but they have occasionally have had articles about Ford discontinuing little things and big things, like rear air controls in the Expedition, wow, most of the time they say it's the supply chain.

Couple things-
Thing 1: Covid-related shortages haven't helped, but Ford historically has done this with virtually every model for years. Front load features, then reap profits over the model's run by decontenting or making features previously standard now in a premium package, while keeping the price the same or increasing. Taurus is a good example.
Thing 2: I think the reason for keeping the remaining latch on the passenger side is to keep the operator on the opposite side of traffic while the door is open.
Bonus track Thing 3: There may have been a liability case where the operator was using the former driver's side latch and got the door clipped by traffic.

I think because it is left over from the Australian version when they have right side drive

Larry, when was yours built? Does it have the holes for it? Mine was 6/19 so I wonder if they deleted that afterwards?

Dave build date 3-20-19. Purchased 6-14-19. Don't remember any holes but will have to check later

Damm. Almost 3 yrs of ownership & now I find out that that bump in the middle of the rear seat is actually a headrest. Must have forgot.
