Ah so you found the universal key: a rock. Nice. Thanks for the bashing advice on the windows. Passenger side front or rear I suppose. You wont make that mistake again, will you?

While I haven't had this happen I do want the keypad entry feature. This makes me want it a bit sooner than before hand.

My 22 self locks after being left alone awhile. I have a solution at home. I made and programmed a third key. I do this so if I loose a key I can make and program another PATS key. When the locksmith laser cut my key, he made a non pats blank to test the accuracy of the cut without ruining my $50 blank. He gave me that key, it opens the door perfectly, so I think I'll stash it in a magnetic case on the truck.

Btw, programming a third key is a piece of cake, much easier than the early PATS keys.

Remember, the alarm will sound after a few seconds if you only unlock the door with a key and don’t turn on the ignition.

I tell you what @ZCoker, if I was locked out of my Ranger in the middle of the Everglades at 2:00 in the morning, I would knock out every window in my truck if I had to! That is a nightmare situation in my opinion! Things happen. Glad you made it out alive.

But, Tracy…The Everglades are a wonderful, beautiful place. The source of many a glorious moment. Whatever could lurk in such a place that would be the source of nightmares?

He may have one I don’t know about. We drove through part of the Everglades once and the only way you would catch me there - is dead. I’m a natural scaredy-cat! (& I’m not ashamed to say so)

Try driving it at night. My parents had a house on Marco Island and we would always go over to Ft Lauderdale and you'd have to take Alligator Alley which is US 41. During the day you could see the Gators on the sides and in the canal. Coming back at night there's no lights and you pray you car doesn't break down there. It's about 80 miles from coast to coast.

During the day you could see the Gators on the sides and in the canal. Coming back at night there's no lights and you pray you car doesn't break down there. It's about 80 miles from coast to coast.

Yep! That’s what I know! Looks like the same road we took. Yes, it’s beautiful, but very dangerous. It was dusk when we went through and was raining. I was caught between taking pictures and watching out for alligators. Also was praying we wouldn’t break down. I listen to way too many true crime podcasts. Enough to worry about the alligators, pythons, panthers etc.. There are also lunatics on the loose. A little dramatic, I know.

My Dad lived just off Ft. Myers for a while. He liked this old hotel in Everglades City. We love Alligator Alley! Seen a few “Darwin Moments” on that road.

It can be pretty in the day but it's mosquito land at night and they love me! When we'd kayak in the Everglades and get near hammocks (small semi-island areas) the water would be really shallow and our paddles stir up the bottom and, holy cow, is that smelly! All that decaying organic matter, pee-yew!

Once when we were biking on a trail far south in the park, we were heading back to the car (FJ40) and a huge 10 foot gator was sunning itself on the trail. We contemplated how to get past—should we try to scare him by throwing rocks? Should we "bunny hop" over him (yikes) or should we pedal like hell with a long running start?!?

After being dumb with a small rock, which made him pick up his head and growl (a deep hissing sound), we waited a few minutes. We gathered up our courage and hauled ass passed him and were a bit disappointed that he could have cared less about us!

They do have some wooden platforms for kayakers made for overnight camping but, I'm with you Tracy, no camping for us either!
