Hey everyone,

I got a new phone and went to set it up with Android Auto, then encountered the disturbing Sync screen, below.

I really don't care if location is known, which might be needed for using Waze on the screen. The other stuff is weird. Who wants their insurance company or somebody's lawyer getting ahold of speed data? Why would Google want to track fuel level? And what other "such as" info gets collected? I'd like to shut that all off.

I tried to find a way to disable collection and use of data, but there doesn't seem to be one. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Erik

Do you have a cell phone?

All of this besides fuel level is already being collected.

One day it will all be used to make us better people.

Isn’t there a disagree button right there on the screen?

Speed is used by Waze and Google Maps to alert you when you are going a set amount over the speed limit. Fuel level is so that you can enable notifications through Android Auto for low fuel levels.

I just hope when they turn me into crackers, the youth that I feed are nice kids who believe in the magic of a damper

If you're using a Google OS on your phone then you've got bigger issues than what you're agreeing to on that screen. I use Android myself and this all seems normal and in character with Google's privacy practices and the data required to use some of their apps.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Google is one of the most invasive platforms out there for collecting and using your information. I do not have an account with them, and use 'Little Snitch' to block and filter any in/out going connections to any of the domains used by them (along with others). I also use Duck, Duck, Go as my main browser (along with Tor) and a VPN to mask my IP address & location, although my IP changes daily. I realize many sites have my info, banks, finance, VA, but it must be working as I get next to no spam mail or calls.

I'd rather just get the money/sell to whoever is buying directly. After the OPM, VA, and Experian breach got me + selling house.... My info is more than out there. I still get calls about that damn house almost 3 years later. My defense: Semi shitty credit so someone trying to steal my identity won't get too far.

After I did all that, all the hot singles in my area stopped wanting to meet me...

Try the waze navigation. When users see an accident, or hazard, or guy with a blue hat, they show the location. Very handy.
I use both. I think they are both owned by google. General idea of conditions. Google. Actual turn by turn - Waze.

Why? (Stolen from a meme I can't find)

Want a pretty map that takes 30 min. Apple

Want the best highway based route with good analytics that takes 20min - Google maps

Want to go thru someone's back yard and ruin their bbq but take 10 min - Waze.
