Wow , sir , you actually were/have been a part of it ? Thats VERY cool , MY DAD was just wondering which side (I think he already know ) you would have been on when the meeting about no longer needing a way to check transmission fluid was being tossed around ? My dad can t get over that one for some reason , he tells me you can (or used to be able to ) get a fairly good look at the inside condition of your go box just by checking the fluid , looks, smell , color (does it sparkle it the sun ?) Oh , and does it need any ? Were you at that neering sir ! And. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!I will tell you a back story about frames... I was a vocal advocate of a Boxed frame...Bean counters shouted "too expensive" Package engineers shouted "We need the C section frame to protest the precious fuel and brake lines AND the wiring... I was frustrated because I wanted a less flexible frame... Then when I found that Ranger had the boxed frame I was a happy camper. Like your dad, I crawled under my Ranger the day I brought it home. Wife sighed and mumbled those famous words...."Damn Engineers". I too was impressed by what I saw and was very happy that the Ranger continues to strive for the heritage of being Ford Tough!'.
So we had a frame cracking issue on the heavy duty E350 prototypes. Ford requires...No Frame cracking, so the Powers that Be dictated a frame doubler, a stamped C section that fit inside the frame C section and was welded in place. By gosh that was going to fix the problem....Guess what...frame cracked at the end of the doubler rear wards. So the powers that be dictated the doubler be extended by 6 inches. Darn....frame now cracked behind the lengthened doubler...So the powers that be dictated another 6 inches. Same result. Then this engineer that had done some calculations said to increase the frame thickness by 0.010 inches....Powers that be said it will not fix it as WE powers that be cannot be wrong. But...we followed this lowly engineer's advice and...no cracking and the Powers that be said....Start Production! Sigh...

Phil, in my second life I sat in on quite a few meetings (as a peon that wasn't allowed to speak) with the "powers that be", engineers, and "bean counters". Needless to say it was always quite entertaining. I'm sure you know what I mean.I will tell you a back story about frames... btw this is my first post on this Forum, I’ve been lurking for a while but am, super excited to join the ranger communityIt sounds like your dad, my dad (RIP), and my father-in-law would get along great! My father-in-law is a die hard Ford guy and ex-mechanic (worked on police cars for years). My dad was a true gearhead and a former drag racer (I built a Chevy 350 small block with him when I was 14).
One day he may even earn an appreciation thread. ?I say we let him continue to play his game, he's not hurting anyone, just fodder for good entertainment.
lord knows its a refreshing change from all the repeat threads that hash over the same thing every day under a new thread.
Meh, this guy isn't snarky enough! One day he may even earn an appreciation thread. ?
Have you been drinking too KJ?One day he may even earn an appreciation thread. ?
?Really? You think NotBudule was an attempt to trick my way back ? And not sad or lonely , so why are YOU reading it ? You saw who started the thread , but couldn't stay away ?he did.
but he's back under some alias and thinking he's tricked a few people.
must be one very lonely man.
