Hi all,

I endeavored to retrofit HIDs into the Ranger. It was a challenge. I'll just post the results and if you have any questions please let me know. I will forewarn all, the OEM halogens are cannot be opened. I bought some Auto Dynasty / DNA Motoring lights off of Amazon for $350 which are sealed by butyl. Disassembly of those was not too difficult, but the height adjusters had to be modified and I am unsure if they will be reliable and may need future work.

Just an update: I had to install capacitors to help improve auto stop function and to increase start reliability. The truck doesn't like the occasional current spike. Low beam is extremely wide and high beam is incredible (think LED Lightbar brightness at around 6200 max lux on high beam).

One projector is rated at 1050 lux on low beam and 2220 on high beam with a 35w ballast, but I am running a 50w ballast so those lux numbers will be about 50% higher.

Just clarifying what you were saying. The Ranger halogen light assembly’s cannot be dissembled? Even oven heating to soften the adhesive doesn’t work? Are these permanently bonded together with solvent bonding. Curious because I was thinking of taking a stab at converting them over. Have done it with other headlights so pretty much know what I’m getting into.

thanks!

Yeah, that's the sad reality. The OE headlights are permasealed. So, you can either dremel them open or buy something like this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B093RVXRTQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are sealed with butyl and come apart easy with about 18 mins at 200F.
