I’ve had many Ford products over the years, mostly trucks and have yet to be disappointed with the quality or getting what I paid for. These range from a ‘62 F100, a 1976 F150, a 99 F250, to several V10 RVs, to a 2005 Escape and a 2013 MKX. My current ride is a 2021 Lariat FX4 Crew. There were always some stuff I wished was better or different but every one of them gave me good service and my Ranger is no different.

Every manufacturer is going to have some problem vehicles. The mark of a good manufacturer is how they step up to these problems. I know there are some folks who swear by Chrysler products but I studiously avoided their products after my experiences with a 1992 Voyager van’s transmission. I bought a lot of cars in those 27 years and none were a Chrysler product. I loved the Challengers back in the 70’s and I finally overcame my revulsion to buy a 2019 Challenger R/T. So far, it has been a great car that puts a smile on my face every time I slide behind the wheel. I think you could stumble upon a lemon by any manufacturer and you’d best be served by fixing what you have or move on and take your chances. Good luck!

FWIW My Lariat has no stumble or hesitation when I apply the go pedal.

Same here.
im going to echo the take it a different dealer. play nice and act like you want to buy extended warranty and be a regular service customer after they fix it. the worst part of owning any car, esp ford... is having to take it to the dealer and hoping they will not hose you. it sounds like your center support on the driveshaft is angry. that has show to be an issue with the new rangers. the pedal and no go is likely electronic some sensor junk. i like my ranger but most times its not really letting me drive i just happen to be behind the wheel riding in it. if they can find it tell them to keep it until fixed as you cannot safely drive it home. hope they fix you up.

Hi Paul,

You need to take this truck to another dealer that will determine what trouble codes are in the ECU...most of what you describe will show as a trouble code... Surprised you do not have a MIL on the dash indicating trouble... MIL is Malfunction Indicator Light.

They are NOT all like this. You need a dealer that is willing to work with you. I sense poor dealer/customer relations with the current dealer.

Good Luck,
Phil
Thanks Phil, yes I am going to give the dealer closer to my work a try. Hopefully they can sort out.

Thx,

Paul

Same here.
Also the same here. 2021 with only 2500 miles so far, but...
Prior to buying it I web searched, including here, and read numerous posts about the puter "learning" your driving habits. So, from the get-go when in drive, I started "giving it the gas" from day one.
Maybe I got lucky with my Ranger's build, or maybe the puter just "learned", but I have no hesitation when taking off from a stop, now, even with a lower rpm. Sport and tow/haul were right on from the start, and now no hesitation in all 3 modes.
Additionally, I only use premium 91-93 octane.
And, I have no tune nor am I planning on one, but I have to wonder if some of the problems I've been reading have to do with any added tunes that might be contributing to the problems. Not criticizing at all, but just wondering if it might factor in.

What the Op described is not Turbo Lag, sounds like the Tranny is not engaging for some reason. OP, does it do it in 'S' as well as 'D'? If you accelerate slowly does it do it? There are other threads to address the drive line sequel that others have had.
That's what I'm thinking also Jess. Paul, maybe if you can get the dealers to reflash the tranny, and let it start the process all over again it could help. And while they are at it have them check the fluid level. As everyone has said these 10 speeds are a different animal, but yours shouldn't be doing that. If mine sits for a day or two I have to start the truck, and let it run for 10-15 seconds before I start off. If I don't it won't move. After that mine's fine. Just a question to clarify, when you say "step on the gas" is that a normal press of the acclerator, or are you hitting the floor with the pedal. Just wondering as it may halp someone come up with an answer to help. Good luck, I do understand how frustrating a problem like that can be. I'm sorry, I can't help you with the squeal.

Have your dealer check the brake light switch. If you don't know why, read your owner's manual!

That's a lot of reading to find that part. You got a page number handy?

Love that part 'dealer can't replicate' when I have an issue and they can't find it. My latest solution is to video the problem when it occurs - smart phones are so handy... "see, it is happening already, now fix it!"

Just a thought --- because this was like a problem a good friend experienced when he first bought a 2013 Explorer. He complained because he thought the vehicle had no power.

But, he had always been a "TWO FOOTED DRIVER".

In simple terms, the computer didn't know whether to stop or go because he had one foot on the stop pedal & one foot on the go pedal.
