I see them listed as options for companies like Livernois, but other than maybe helping the shift points, what good are they? Don’t Rangers come from the factory tuned for 87?

Basically, to improve performance while using said octane level.I see them listed as options for companies like Livernois, but other than maybe helping the shift points, what good are they? Don’t Rangers come from the factory tuned for 87?

Oh look its frenchy in a thread mentioning 5-star.Basically what @RedDakooter05 said. Mind you if younare to get a tune I suggest going with a good reputable tune. I suggest staying away from 5Star as they do not use the barometric compensation wich is very important if you plan to change elevation(even on a road trip).
I will also add that the tunes Livernois has are considered flex tunes as they have a range of octane you can use for each tune
Just dont mention wheel spacers or any other suspension other than old man emu and he'll go silent again.5star fixed the limp mode issue very early on. I indeed hit this issue when driving through the smokies and was one of the first to report. They told me all tunes sent after they corrected it on mine would automatically have this revision. The limp mode issue is a thing of the past. Frenchy loves to push every mod he personally has on his truck to a point of you thinking he might be sponsored. We ALL know how much he loves his OME suspension.
Moral of the story, many of us run 5star tunes, I'm probably one of the earliest adopters on this forum and can tell you it runs flawlessly (20k+ tuned miles) and I drive my truck hard. I also do some heavy wheeling (not just gravel/dirt roads on a mountain) and this tune handles it with zero issues and my truck still runs like new.
Simply stating the truth about one particular tune company that still requires a separate tune if you live in the extreme high elevation(weird right?!). Also if you think 5Star is so great go ask the member on here that threw a rod with a 5Star tune.Oh look its frenchy in a thread mentioning 5-star.

Edit: Oh yea, I forgot that another poster debunked this back in March (as one example):

Back onto topic here since rhe others do not want to give helpful information like you are asking. I know there is a member that did a some dyno pulls with the tow and performance tune but I believe that was with premium fuel. Now I do recall other members on here using the low octance performance tune, using 87 and still getting a performance gain. How much? Enough to make them happy.Anyone have an 87 stock tune vs an 87 Livernois tune dyno they could post?
Don't waste your money on a 87 tune then. A damper will give you way more hp/tq than that. ?As a matter of fact, I was considering spacers… and a tailgate damper… ?
