Hi all,

I did some vinyl wrapping on my Ranger, it’s kind of a poor job but it was my first time. Still learning a lot on how to manipulate the wrap properly to not have creases. I learned the heat gun is a must… is there other tips or videos you can share that helped you perfect the process? I’m going to try 2-3 more times when the original job peels to try and perfect it. But I may just pay a professional to have it PERFECTED. Let me know if you guys have some sweet wrapping tips!! Also, love the carbon fiber holographic wrap from Tekwrap. Sweet looking stuff.

Warm regards,
Brandon

I have heard many good things about the way 3M vinyl works. Thank you for this suggestion Trevor. Might have to place it in my cart.
No problem. Glad to help!

The guys on line make it look so easy. I thought about wrapping a set of stretched saddlebags for my Harley in a grey carbon fiber since it's a grey bike an paint is crazy expensive.

I was thinking some of the dash trim an an door trim would look good wrapped in carbon fiber.
Very much so! I wanted to do the dash trim when I get better, it seems a lot more curves and small sections so it may be tough...

I used 3M 1080 carbon wrap on trim pieces in my Focus RS… it looked pretty real. I’ve actually considered it in my Ranger. I’m just wondering how the passenger side dash trim comes off.

Check out CK Wraps on YT. He's got a ton of instructional videos & how to wrap specific parts with different brands. I used his videos to get a handle on wrapping a few bits on my Golf. First attempt looked like garbage but a bit of practice I managed to get it. Two biggest take a ways are practice & getting the sheet laid down nicely before trying to manipulate it.

Wrap in warm weather or heated garage, if it's below ~20C the vinyl becomes stiff & hard to manipulate. Order more vinyl & cut the pieces bigger than you'll need, lay it out on the longest flattest surface first & use the excess to help hold it in place until it's ready to be trimmed.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I watched one of his videos and really liked it.

The tip of a nice sheet laid properly is a big one, learned that today after tossing some too small of Size sheets. The weather tip is good to keep in mind, I appreciate the help Stu!

Yeah I made the mistake of trying to be conservative and use smaller pieces before realizing I’m wasting more that way.
