Looks like they’re already making excuses for lack of leadership. We’ve been working full time since the plague started. It is more difficult to be efficient as you were previously but in no way has it affected quality. If fact because we’re slower quality has gotten better. Inefficiency definitely gets spotlighted in circumstances like this. So, that’s why big companies have multi sources in vendors. Meet the standards or their’s the door!

Some think it is not only due to the chip shortage but also the changes in the workers at the plants because of Covid-19. You add them both together and....?

I'm thinking my brake failure could be related to this.

Ford threaten their own quality. Covid is just a BS excuse.

I thought this was interesting in an article I found. Always searching for info on the 6G Ranger which I wish to purchase.

Full Article mainly about the Aussie Market. Article date April 2021.

2022 Ford Ranger: Everything we know so far, when it’s unveiled and due in showrooms | CarAdvice

Ford has also discreetly started deleting some items from the current Ford Ranger to cut costs – and to prepare for sharp discounts once it reaches runout phase towards the end of this year.

For example, the acoustic (sound-deadening) front side windows have been replaced by normal glass and the plastic pocket under the rear seat (which houses the spare wheel jack) has been deleted, exposing the bare metal floor.

Despite these hidden cost-cutting measures, the Ford Ranger remains the second-best selling vehicle outright in Australia – behind the Toyota HiLux – thanks to numerous special editions and running changes throughout its 10-year lifecycle.

Well. That is, interesting. Glad I have a 2020. I'm interested in what comes in the future. I would be interested in a hybrid. Also interested in updated tech since I think this model range is lacking, but I still love it compared to my last vehicle.

Now you opened up a can of worm for more to complain about. ;) I bet no one noticed the plastic under their rear seats were gone and the sound deadening glass Now we'll have another thread on how Ford is screwing the customer. /s :)

Its interesting that we in North America did not see the 10 year run of the 5G Ranger. I own the last Gen 4 Ranger. 2011. We do not know what we were missing from those first European/ Aussie vehicles. I have also heard that the Aussie ones are more robust then the NA model. More designed for continual use in the Outback. Where us in NA use it a lot more for paved roads for every day use.

If you are getting good discounts then that's a positive as the 5G lifecycle comes to the end.
Maybe some deals to be had.

Well the way most are modding them they’re right there with the Aussies minus the Raptor. But eh, ours are gas powered and dampered so game on! ?

That article is from April 2020 so I’d like to see if there’s actual data that backs that up. My Ranger was made in Sept 2020 and aside from a transmission issue that came up at 2k miles, have had zero issues. The transmission issue was a valve body issue and doesn’t fall into the broad brush stroke here. I would expect sloppy work and rattles. I guess if I wanted that, I would’ve bought Chevy or Dodge.

How Ford's making sure quality is Job 1 once again

A good read.

How Ford's making sure quality is Job 1 once again (msn.com)
Hi Biran,

I know Hau Thai-Tang personally...good guy...Hope he can turn things around. There is one problem facing Ford today that is common in many industries. That is the volatile work. People do not stay around anymore...3 to 5 years and move on. This means expertise learned over the long haul is lost or never gained. It is a major concern that Ford tried to address via processes put in place that if you follow the process...things will work out fine.... Unfortunately this did not work and we are seeing the failed attempts to do quality vehicle launches. When I retired...I was supposed to spend months on the computer imparting my experience in to these so called processes... It was awful and I gave up....an impossible task... Hopefully Hau can get his arms around this nagging problem.

Best,
