Someone some where posted about them never having the automatic transmission shift into second gear. I forgot about it until today going to the store. So in the parking lot I drove around for maybe 10 mins (yeah it was likely longer) trying to get it to select 2 second gear (in D mode) and not a single time did it go into second.

I want my second GEAR!

If it's a serious question, no, it's not true. The trans will skip gears if it thinks it doesn't need it. Try sport mode, or tow mode, or mash the peddle. It should hit all the gears.

Well from my understanding(Don't own one yet, just test drove) the 2nd gear usually gets skipped unless you're feather footing it.
I only saw 2nd gear used once during my 2 hour test drive.

Tow mode uses second gear. Just select tow mode on the center console, press the gear select switch on the shifter to display gears in the instrument panel and then give it a go. You will see it use second as you begin to accelerate.

Oh I am serious. I did only use D mode as that is what I use on a everyday basis. I didn't peddle to the metal the gas as I was in a parking lot but it pretty good and didn't see it used. If it were to skip gears it doesn't need then it should skip 4th and 6th as those seem to be on for half a second during my normal drive

yeah if I feathered it any further I would be pressing on air (yeah not sure what that means either)

yeah but I've had Drive mode my whole life, may dad had Drive mode, my granddad had Drive mode, his dad had Horse mode( so guess that doesn't count)
So I want it in Drive mode in second gear!

Why? What's the purpose? It's a 10 speed automatic transmission with closely spaced gears. There is no need to go through every gear when in Drive mode. It's not an old 3 speed or the less old 6 speed transmissions where there is a much larger gap between gears.

I'll bet it'll use 2nd if you lock out 3rd and above. If you can even lock out gears that low.

The shift pattern depends on the driver. In normal driving, mine shifts... 1, 2, 4, 5-6 (quickly), then 7 at 35 to 40 mph. At full throttle (Drive), it goes... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. Sports mode increases the shift point a bit higher, and a whole lot firmer. Unfortunately, not as firm as I would like, especially the 1, to 2, shift.

I locked out all but 1st. If one gear is good enough for electric cars it is good enough for the old reliable engine
