“What strikes me is how many cars some of you have owned.”.

I thought that too. I am 59 and the Ranger is my 9th vehicle including the early years junkers and what I inherited through marriage.

I will be 59 next month, and I have owned nine at the same time! You need a big back yard and an incredibly understanding spouse to reach this level of insanity :)

I've owned approx 26 cars/trucks in my life. 2 Mercedes & 2 VW's (wife's cars). All the rest have been Fords. My dad was a drag-racer so I grew up around cars. He loved the old flat-head Fords and we spent almost every weekend at the tracks in Southern Calif. during the 60's and 70"s. My older brother "strayed" once and brought home a 1969 GTO. Dad was beyond pi$$ed! He had to park it in front of the neighbors house. Even as a little boy, I thought that was one ugly car....lol. I guess it's in the blood. My daughter will probably go with the new Maverick. I've always had really good luck with Ford and am very happy with my choice.

To me, brand loyalty means that the brand is loyal to me, not the other way around. When I pay thousands of dollars for a product, I expect absolute loyalty from the company that sold me the product. I would never spend that kind of money on a product because I feel some sort of "brand loyalty" to them. They are a lot better off financially than I'll ever be.

List of what I have owned:

64 Ford Fairlane Sports Coupe 500
68 Ford Mustang Convertible

84 Mercury Topaz
88 GMC Screw 3/4 ton Sierra
96 Ford Ranger

So I guess you could say I'm brand loyal to some degree. I've owned 19 vehicles and 13 of them have been Fords. The company I retired from bought only Ford cars, truck and vans. They were driven hard and yet they were very reliable, for the most part. You know, Takes a licking and keeps on ticking, for you older guys and girls that remember the Timex commercials.

What strikes me is how many cars some of you have owned. This Ranger is really only my 10th car/truck that I have owned my whole life (I am 55 years old).
I'm 45. I've had 15 vehicles accross 30 years of driving. That only averages out to one every couple of years.

You drove motorcycles exclusively for ten years, how many of those have you had? I'd add that to my total.
Part of my Loyalty to Ford is they are Financially Responsible. In 2008's financial melt down Ford did not have to accept a hand out from the US government. Ford is managed well.
Ford may have not taken TARP money, but they got plenty of bailing out back then. Overall a couple billion more than GM through TALF.

In fact they still owe the government almost $6 billion.

Reads like more of a loan to Ford. 5.9 Billion borrowed. Where GM and Chrysler were given 64 Billion related to bankruptcy/bailout.

There were multiple bills and programs that were a part of the bailout. On the TALF side Ford Credit borrowed more than GMAC.

Regardless of the numbers, your original assertion that "Ford did not have to take a handout" is false. And is proven false by your very Forbes link.

Ford took plenty of Government money. Maybe not as much as the others. But they took, just the same.

Also, just judging by the last few product launches Ford is definitely NOT managed well.

OK I'm with you, but what does that actually mean these days? Made in America? Profits go back to America? Hmmm.
I'm a loyal Ford guy.
but not a fanboy.
The reason I go with Fords is they check off more boxes constantly than anyone else when i am in the market.
ts that simple.
because of my past success with Fords, there is some bias that the next time i'm looking for a new ride, they are a top pick to go browse their offerings, and as i compare to the others, the decision is always clear
This is how I feel too. I've tried VW, Porsche, M-B, Subaru, Chevy and Toyota (we won't count the MG). In between were usually Fords. And I kept coming back to Fords. They're what I know, I'm comfortable with the design choices, and the company's social and political stances are a close enough fit to mine that I don't mind giving them my money over someone else.

Ok a disclaimer, my father was a Ford mechanic for his lifetime and my brother too.
That said I’ve owned different brands of vehicles but I keep coming back to Ford.. I find each brand has a different “feel” to them from driving, seating, visibility etc…

I like Cadillac V series sedans but I’m a truck person at heart..

I’ve noticed in the Ranger 5G and new Maverick forums that there is more of an instant gratification loyalty, More so in the Maverick forum. Yeah maybe it’s just impatience in today’s world but there is a lot of whining like waiting for a new video gaming console to come out.

Yeah at 64 I guess I’m just old school and experienced but it bugs the crap out me… just saying.. Maybe it’s just youths (utes) that will someday figure it out.

Ford didn’t get by being a slouch but they had their moments… Sometimes you gotta make a stand..

Rant over…
I am a motor head.

I like most cars and trucks. A fan of muscle cars, trucks, etc. Not stuck on any one brand.

Had a 67 chevelle that i loved. Love GTO's, though havent owned one yet.
Had a 69 Torino and a Buick GS. Also had a 68 Barracuda. Owned a 72 mustang.

Loved them all.

Love old trucks. But have had very bad luck with Chevy/GM trucks. Will most likely never own another.

Had zero issues with the Ford trucks i have owned. Dodge trucks have been ok.

Have owned a few Rangers. Great trucks. Beat the hell out of my last, which was a 2009 super cab 4x4. Even towed a Case Skidsteer on a few occasions.

35k on my 2019 ranger. No complaints so far. Great truck
