I pay a couple bucks a month for towing thru my insurance. Used it several times on the older Ranger. Never an issue. If I were stuck on the side of the road calling Ford would never enter my mind.

Sorry you had such troubles, glad you got it sorted and hopefully you can enjoy your Ranger now as most of us do.

Yes, I have road side insurance on all our vehicles' insurance but think I only used it once in the last 40 years, long time ago. Lesson learned about Ford Road Side Assistance. Will never try using it again.

Hi OP, glad it worked out. Like u I had an issue & called Ford assistance, but they
came fast. Dealer fixed the problem & we now have about 5k miles with no issues
after the fix.

I think I've only used Ford Assistance once - I had a 2002 Ranger that put itself into 4 low and wouldn't come out so I couldn't drive it (very far). I called Ford RA and the sent out a flatbed who was there in less than an hour. Maybe things have changed, but I would give it a shot again if needed.

Wondering if due to the weather, etc that played into the tow truck companies issues?

... Nautilus knows who is in the driver's seat by the fob.

Best,
Phil
My Jeep from the stone ages of 2004 has this and even despite being a Chrysler product, it still works :p

It has a black fob and a gray fob.

Unlocking with the black fob puts the seat in memory position 1, the gray fob puts it in memory position 2.

I'm really the only person who drives my Ranger (even though I got it in Dec 2019 my wife still hasn't driven it. She says she's waiting until I put the first scratch on it. None so far, not even a door ding so of course now a Neanderthal will slam it today)so the seat memory is not really missed.

That said, it is extremely nice to have when you do need it. The Jeep remembers everything including seat position, mirrors position, gas/brake pedals position, and with the stock radio (long gone) even your favorite radio stations.

OP, glad you got your truck back and hopefully you are good to go now.

Nothing dampens the shine off a new vehicle like a trip on a tow truck.

Yep. Last week I drove my neighbor/good friend's 1965 Chrysler Newport up to Tucson to Exhaust Works for a new muffler and tailpipe. Parked in the lot and went to start the car and move it onto the hoist...No start....So we waited for over 3½ hours for a Rollback to pick it up and drop it off at the shop that takes care it for my neighbor... Sigh! Since he does not see well enough to drive, we will try this next Wednesday....

best,
Phil

To provide the opposite such experience, I purchased my 21 Lariat FX4 at the end of June, put about 800 miles on it by the end of July then towed a 12ft Uhaul w/ around 4500 pounds 2100 miles from Florida to Colorado, then took it off roading the weekend after moving into my new apartment.

I have not had any issues with the truck whatsoever, now approaching 4000 miles on the odometer.
Thanks for the piece of mind. ??

My 2021 lariat was perfect until 7000 miles. It’s been in the shop for a month now waiting on a replacement for the defective drivers side rear axle. And no ETA on replacement parts.

I hope you get another 4000 trouble free miles.
Sorry to hear. My 2020 lariat I beat the living hell out of. Still running like a charm after 17k miles. Sucks you had a defective part during these rough supply time.. hoping it will be sooner than later.

Got my baby home just now! Serpentine belt came in this afternoon and got the call to pick truck up at 3:30 p.m. I talked to the service manager. I asked him if the belt was actually off. He said when they got the truck, they started it, popped the hood and it was off already. I asked was the hole in the center of the belt or on the edge. He said it was on the edge. That it was small, like half the shape of one of those office hand hole punchers. He said he really didn't think it was from a rodent, more likely a freak happening of a stone hitting it. I asked wouldn't the skid plate have prevented that, he said it should but he thinks it's just a one in a million freak happening that a rock shot up into the belt. I asked could it have come in from the grill somewhere, he said no.

Said they ran the water test for 2 hours over the cab, checked for wetness in the carpet, nothing... no puddles formed on Weathertech Floor Liners on either passenger or driver side.

Said after belt was in, they gave it a good test drive, and ran both A/C then heater for awhile... no leaks under dash.

I have the copy of the work they did, the codes they picked up, etc. with all they tested/checked out.
Said if I have any problems again to certainly bring it back in.
They treated you right. Thanks for the info Val.

If it’s any consolation (& I’m sure it’s not); I’ve had the same issues with tow companies worked from the “roadside”, directly through my insurance company: Multiple cancellations & exorbitant delays until I finally gave up.
I guess some things are chronic & not just a Ford Roadside Assistance issue.

I'll definitely try to call for towing/hauling myself if ever happens again.
