Hello all. Names Brian and I currently have a Ram 1500 looking to go down in size but not performance so looking at the Ranger. I feel as though it is the best option on the market for overall truck for my needs. I put about 35K miles on a vehicle in a year so need something that is going to make the grade.

New member from Alabama here but not new to the Ranger . I've had a couple from 1989 to one I'm still driving from '91 . I'll just copy my post over from the Bronco forum to explain my current purchase :)

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Since I sold my King Ranch back in January ( Thanks Ford for saying you were still on schedule to deliver this summer ) I've been driving my 30 year old Ranger with 327k miles to work everyday . Oil started spewing underneath Wed and it was pouring down raining so couldn't really look into the issue . I figured it was a front main seal cause all the oil drained out overnight into the yard where it is parked .Spent Thursday looking at trucks and almost bought a fully loaded out 2020 Gladiator Mojave with 4k miles but sorta lucked out on this 2020 4WD Ranger Lariat with 10k miles . The previous owner loaded it up with every option plus added the metal retractable bed cover . I got an OK deal , not the greatest but OK during all this vehicle shortage crap . Now I gotta think about how much more the Bronco is going to cost me at trade in time or convince the wife to trade in her car and keep this one :)

The good news is I pressure washed the underside of the old Ranger yesterday afternoon and figured out the oil was pouring out of a broken extension the pressure sensor is screwed into . It's tucked way under the AC compressor so it will be a challenge to get to , but it is fixable . It's a Ford so it will be Baaaaack !!!!

Hey all, Stu here checking in from the Toronto area. Just got our 21 Lariat FX4 the other day, been wanting a truck for awhile. The fiance wasn't convinced we needed one, until we took the test drive and she fell in love with the truck. Now it's parked in our driveway. Originally wanted it in Velocity Blue but the black appearance on black looked so sexy in person.

Hey All, I'm James I'm new to this forum stuff. I've been on the fence about choosing between a new bronco or going with ranger. Just trying to do all my homework in making decision. Look forward to reading everything I can.

Welcome James! You'll have better luck getting a Ranger now with all the problems and constraints on the Bronco. Unless you already have a reservation (mine is Oct '20) you'd be looking at a '23 right now. Heck with all the problem I might still be a '23. Then you could either keep the Ranger and get a Bronco or trade it in for one. Although being on this forum you'll probably be broke like most of us from buying every mod you see. ? :piggybank:

New guy here, I come from the VW world, been dabbling with VW's for over 20 years, currently I have a 2016 GTI that has a lot of OEM/ Euro OEM+ mods, my preferred choice for upgrades. But I have become bored with the "Car scene" lately so I decided to step outside my comfort zone and maybe try out some overlanding. Since VW doesn't make a truck in the states (There were rumors after the VW/Ford partnership though) and looking at various vehicles and a lot of YouTube videos lol, I settled on the next best thing, a new Ranger. I plan to place an order here in the near future, who knows how long it will take to get built though as I read Ford shut down some production, but I have specific wants and won't settle for "what's on the lot" so I can wait lol. I settled on a XLT Supercab 4x4 with FX4 package, only thing I can't decide on is the color. I want to see Cactus Grey in person first as that's my #1 choice, it also looks to be one of those colors you need to see in person to appreciate...or not. But I also like the Race Red and Velocity Blue so we'll see. Looking forward to trying something different and experiencing new things. I also have a 2001 Ranger that I daily drive, but it's a beater and not worth posting lol.

Hi Brian,

I am the son of a WWII vet father that was part of the Army and then the Army Air Corps and then the United States Air Force. I lived the military lifestyle as a dependent. I have tremendous respect for those who served! Always will. I chose a non Military path as my dream was to be an Automotive engineer. I display my Flag proudly in an area of Green Valley where the flag is in frowned upon. Screw them! On this day, I give thanks and prayers to First Responders and our Military.

There is a back story on these Forums but I cannot find it so I will briefly recap it here.

I was to fly to Germany for the Indy Car race on 9/11/2001. This was when the grave terrorist attack happened, and all flights were grounded. Shocked beyond belief. Little did I know the newly created FX4 Ranger would play a critical roll in the aftermath. I returned to work as my flights to Germany were cancelled. Sitting in my office, my secretary told me that someone from World Headquarters was on the line. Ford was going to pull out the stops to help in the aftermath. I had 20 Ranger FX4 prototypes that were from the pilot program for the FX4.....We sent these 20 Rangers to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. All the Port Authority vehicles were destroyed in the World Trade Center Collapse. These Rangers served for some two months on duty with the Port Authority, and up on return, one was proudly displayed at Ford World Headquarters for about a month. So the FX4 has a heritage associated with 9/11.

Best,

Hi Folks,

I will bring this back to the surface on the 20th anneversary of 9/11.... Ranger FX4 has a heritage of supporting the aftermath of this terrorist attack.

Best,
Phil
