On my old truck, I was going to get a topper to camp in, but then finally waved off. It didn't make sense for my use, though I know it works for others. But a topper on the mav? I don't see a need, but that's just me.

Dogs, tools, groceries, mulch, etc, there's all sorts of things people would like to keep dry and secure.

I'm not a fan of them myself but I can see where they come in handy for some. Sometimes a cap is just to low and when you're in the back a topper just gives you that little extra room to kneel more upright in. Of course for me being short I could stand right up in it. :giggle:

So every full and mid sized PU has to be registered as a commercial vehicle in CA?
Here in Louisiana my registration is $45, and that's for a four year tag. Passenger cars are $45 for a two year tag. Vehicle inspection is $20 for two year sticker, and you pay $145 for lifetime registration for trailers.
But we are a poor state with terrible roads, so I hope you get what you pay for.
Omg. If it meets the requirements for weight fees then you have to register it as a commercial vehicle and pay, pay, pay. Registration went from $560 to $480ish after I put the shell on. You pay every year. We are the 7th largest economy in the world. Our roads and byways are a joke. We pay massive taxes and our governor squanders the money like we are made of it. There is so much waste, it is incredible. California used to be a great place to live. I grew up here and watched the changes. Slowly but surely this state is becoming a wild place to live. One day there will be one less Ranger in this state but I’m trapped for 4 more years. Right now I have the only lifted, 4x4 SUV with 32s. The way I see it, you pay for nothing and have everything. We pay for everything and have nothing.

Sales
This should sell well, it will be interesting to see what the sales numbers look like over time, as I don't see Ford having 2 smaller truck offerings, if the Maverick sells way more than the Ranger, could spell the end for that line up. I have no idea how many Rangers sell in N America every year, but I think the Maverick will appeal to a much larger segment, as it is not a "truck", it is a SUV/crossover type vehicle that looks like a truck

I keep looking back and forth at the hearse photo and your profile truck photo and notice a certain resemblance in the side profile...
