Thanks for the clarification. FWIW, I wouldn't put an engine cover on. It will make the engine compartment look slightly better, but will also affect heat dissipation. Not a lot, but some.
It is also used to keep water off the coil if you get a misfire. I ordered my engine cover kit off ebay for about 100 bucks.

Not always effective. I have the cover and still managed to get water past 2 coil packs while driving through a heavy rainstorm.

Nope. That is all it does. As I mentioned before, it will hold some of the engine heat as well.
Yeah that's a good point. I've had zero problems with interior noise and am not a superficial type of guy so I'll be good without one

Dang seriously?! Seems like that should be fixed through a recall and not just by slapping a cover on the engine that is basically hovering above it. I didn't realize it was that common of a problem.

The engine covers became collector items in 2021. I think they bumped the price of them because of that.

It will also reduce your $$$ carried in your wallet. Minor weight savings for your truck to carry, but offset by the weight of the engine cover you thought you had to have.

Yep. I just figured the seals on the coil pack were defective. I replaced the plugs and coils myself. Couldn’t wait for an appointment and hassle at the dealer.

is the Engine cover on the 2021 Ranger still part of the FX4 package
Engine cover?? You mean the hood/bonnet? I've never seen a Ranger without one. I thought it was standard across the line. :frown:

No, not the hood, lol.

Here is a picture of an engine with the cover on.

What is the difference between the kit on ebay for 100 bucks and the OEM kit on Levittown for 70 bucks?
