Adding glass coverage to you insurance policy is a no-brainer IMO. It's very inexpensive coverage. It's saved me several thousand dollars over the past 10 - 15 years. It's especially helpful if you drive a lot of miles every year sharing the road with big trucks - the biggest culprits when it comes to slinging rocks.I cracked mine and safelite replaced it for free.
not worth it for me. Have cracked 2 windshields in 10 years. State farm wanted $9/month. Costs me $250 to replace without this coverage, so if I can get thru a little over 2 years between replacements, I'm goodAdding glass coverage to you insurance policy is a no-brainer IMO. is this thru your regular insurance or something separate?Have the glass coverage on all our vehicles.
2017 towing our Subi Crosstrek thru Alaska, cracked windshield. Would have cost $800,00, but covered with a $50 deductible
This year, wifes 2018 Subi Outback Touring cracked...$1200.00 , but replaced for $50 deductible.
Here's some info on Safelite...
They use aftermarket windshield from overseas, not OE quality. And they charge outrageous $$$ to realign your safety braking sensors, some times more than the glass cost.
Had we had to pay for the Outback glass, Safelight wanted $800 for the glass, and $500 to re align the sensors. Subaru glass was $1000 but only $200 to realign sensors. But the $50 deductible took care of it.
You have a Lariat...it ain't a $250 windshield. I'm not saying your reasoning is bad, but make sure you check up on that before making your decision.not worth it for me. Our regular insurance company, Traveler's.is this thru your regular insurance or something separate?
I don't know the actual $$ amount charged to my insurance company for windshield replacement on my Ranger, but I do know that when Safelite did it I was given an original equipment windshield (has the Ranger logo in it) and had my recalibrations done by the tech. $0 to me personally at the time, so all I'm out is the glass coverage on my insurance policy. I'm quite happy with Safelite and have used them for many vehicles, including the Freightliner I used to own.Have the glass coverage on all our vehicles.

That‘s the tricky thing about insurance. You can never know when you’ll need it, or how often you’ll need it, or if you’ll need it at all. I would assume a worst case scenario and figure out if you’re comfortable self insuring that scenario. As others have said, I would verify that $250 estimate first, seems low.not worth it for me. Safelite will use OE glass, if you request it, but it cost's more. Also, some vehicles may only have OE glass available. For our Subie's aftermarket was available for both, and prices were compared with both Safelite using aftermarket, and Subaru dealer replacing with factory glass.I don't know the actual $$ amount charged to my insurance company for windshield replacement on my Ranger, but I do know that when Safelite did it I was given an original equipment windshield (has the Ranger logo in it) and had my recalibrations done by the tech. $0 to me personally at the time, so all I'm out is the glass coverage on my insurance policy. Geico glass coverage is $9 per vehicle on their 6 month policy. So less than $20 a year.Adding glass coverage to you insurance policy is a no-brainer IMO. It's very inexpensive coverage.
