Some nice person left an 18" crease in my left, front fender above the wheel well. I thought I knew pretty much everything about my Ranger, but was surprised when my body shop told me it was aluminum and they don't work on aluminum. After many phone calls, I did locate a reputable shop that did work on aluminum and was on my insurance company's list. Part two, I was given two options at about the same cost, roughly $1100. They can repair the damage, but aluminum has a "memory" and, in time, would revert to its damaged state and crack the filler and paint. Or I can go for a new fender. I chose B and have filed a claim. I'll try to update as this unfolds. Be careful out there.

I've used PDR on several occasions with good results. Unfortunately, there's paint damage as well. :curse:

I feel your pain my friend, looks like your insurance is treating you well though so best of luck on a quicker return!

Nice pun, intended or not.

Are the Rangers really Aluminum. I thought it was just the hood and tailgate.
I guess I can check mine with a magnet.

Only the tailgate, hood and fenders are aluminum.

If I recall:

aluminum - hood, front fenders, tailgate
steel - cab, doors, rear fenders, bed

Update. Finally dropped Lone off at Maryland Collision. Only question on the quote was having the color listed as orange. Told them I did not want an orange fender on my red Ranger. Just got a call and they will be able to repair the crease without replacing the fender. Should have it back and good as new by Friday. Fingers crossed. ?

Didn't they tell you that a repair might re-crease later?

Original estimate, yes. Once they got it in the shop and took a closer look, they decided it was OK to fix. I asked them about it reappearing and they said it would not. Still got my fingers crossed.
