New here and been searching around. I would like to run a 275/70/17 tire on the factory sport wheels, since they look nice for a factory wheel. I have seen that the BFG All Terrain TA KO2's will work, but BFG only makes the heavier "E" rated in the 275. Looks like the 285 in the "C" rated is actually lighter, but would need a spacer to clear from my understanding.

How bad will the 275 ride quality suffer on the road with the stiffer tire, and how is gas mileage gonna drop? Would it be better to go to the 285 and just add a .25" spacer or if I am concerned about all of this just stick with a 265?

Not committed to the BFG's, but from what I am seeing my options are limited without cutting crash bars.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the links. These are the tire I'd like to go with, but if mileage drops a bunch or the truck feels like a slug, I'll just stick with a 265.

So I currently have 285/70-17 Firestone Destination XT's on my truck. Stock wheels, no spacers and the Old Man EMU lift kit. What did I do to the crash bars? I moved the front ones forward and removed the plastic covers. Do I get any rub? Yes i do. I rub the sway bar at full lock in either direction. Is it enough to scare me? Not really. Can i speak for other tires in that size? Nope!! Will 275/70-17 fit with no rubbing? Verry possible as the tire wont be as wide in general but every tire made in the "same size" will still be different than each other.

I'm running 275/70R17s on stock wheels, and I'm looking at different wheels as we speak, because the tires are SOOOOO close to the knuckle. I've never rubbed, but I certainly can't air down. That being said, people tell me it looks great and I really love the way it drives and feels. Here's my truck https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/275-70-17-on-stock-sport-wheels.7381/post-134200
You can air down, the flex and wider contact patch is only in the contact with the ground.
