It took me over a year to notice that hole above the 2 bolts has a slot that looks like a key fits in it. it seems to lock the door when it's turned but doesn't unlock it. this is my first ford so I'm not familiar with their "engineering" and "reasoning". any insight would be great.

...and no it doesn't speed up or slow down the tailgate damper :frown:

i believe it makes it so your back seat passengers can not unlock their doors, for kids and stuff so they don't fly out.

My first reaction was: Exactly what is that a picture of? Is it the edge of a door? If so, which door? Is it a rear door of a Super Crew?
If so, maybe it has something to do with the common child safety latch mechanism. Of course, now I am too lazy to go out and check my own doors to see if I am anywhere close to the ballpark. lol.

If you flip that, a beautiful woman (or man, whatever you prefer) appears to give you a warm oil massage. Happy endings will happen... and you don't even need to hold out a $50 bill. #altfacts

I haven't noticed this in the month I've owned my Ranger. But, I like it way better that the physical switch that most vehicles come with. I can't count the number of times I've accidently flipped it and locked someone in the back seat.

child safety lock on the front door? Genius! seems like something honda would

I have a supercab and you can't open the rear doors from inside when the front doors are closed. I'm still disappointed it doesn't speed up the crappy tailgate damper.....
